Is it Gullivarrr or Gulliver?

So I encountered Gullivarrr/Gulliver today for the first time. I was using my secondary character when I saw him and I talked to him. His name tag said Gulliver. So I thought Gullivarrr was just what the community called him and not his actual name. Then I went to talk to him with my main character and NOW is says Gullivarrr. Soooo what the heck? Lol has anyone else experienced this? It's nothing major but it's weird. Why is his name different for both my characters?

the first time you talk to Gullivarr (pirate gulliver) it says Gulliver like normal until he starts making pirate puns, then his name changes to be Gullivarr.

Gulliver is normal blue sailor (dig up comm parts) and Gullivarr is red outfit pirate (dive for phone)

i have not. i went on to my alt to farm 'Gullivarr' and the name remains the same. As per @Mikaiah, Gulliver is the blue one and Gullivarr is the red.

I think they put in Gulliver and Gullivarr in the game to help players try to get the
golden shovel DIY a little quicker. Also it seems that they like playing on the fact that Gulliver is a traveler and have a lot of unfortunate stuff happens to him.

gullivaar doesn't count towards golden shovel afaik but I could be misremembering

Really? I didn't know that. I figured that he just gives you stuff regardless.


Unless it's very specific on the name being 'GulliVER'

Looks like Gullivarrr arrived today. There most likely are two different models of Gulliver. One in a sailor suit and the other in a pirate suit. Gullivarrr is the alter egos of Gulliver. Think of King K. Rool, and how in each Donkey Kong Country game, he wore different clothes and went under different names.

I haven't met pirate Gulliver yet. Do they not give some type of explanation? Like how he has a new crew?

I thought it's the same npc, just he changed clothes and name because he somehow ended up as part of a pirate ship.

It's kind of weird for him to be flipping back and forth between normal sailor and pirate.

The first time he appears, his name is Gulliver for a few lines of dialogue (most likely to indicate the player assuming it’s the same character) before he introduces himself as Gullivarrr and then his name permanently changes. They’re 2 totally separate NPCs.


And yes, Gullivarrr doesn’t count toward the golden shovel DIY because you dive for his communicator, not dig up parts.

It changes the first first time for the humor of it.

It's pretty much suppose to give off the feeling of "Oh hey Gulliver how are....you?....wait".

Although he IS Gulliver he thinks he's Gullivarrr


I think sometime between falling off his normal ship, he get's picked up by a pirate crew he thinks he is a part of and hence the two personalities.

My guess: Multiple personality disorder. Which is probably why his crew keeps throwing him overboard. They’re probably sick of it and are annoyed with his constant identity changes. And then when they get his message they don’t reply but reluctantly come to him because they don’t want anyone to know it was their fault.

ive always assumed that there were seriously excellent barrels or rum hidden somewhere on the island because both gulliver and gullivarrr them continuously crash there.

Gulliver is the normal seagull that travels the world and gives you items relating to the world.

Gullivaar is a pirate who gives pirate items.

I use to think they were the same person, but with a personality disorder. Now I believe they are two different people because of their eyes. They just happen to both be Seagulls.
