Now i am not talking about animal forest or whatever crap because it is the same exact game as animal crossing: population growing!

Now i just started to go back into this game on my gamecube and i have to say its aged way better than others in the series. Wild world is by far my favorite game in the series, but something about population growing i have a soft spot for.

anyone else agree?

I thought Animal Forest was a direct translation of the Japanese title. I could be wrong on that though.

And I totally agree! I think its because of the nostalgia Population Growing has. For a lot of people it was their first Animal Crossing game so it makes a lot of sense that people have a softer spot for it compared to the other games. I played Wild World when I was in Middle school, but I didnt play all that much since I was the only one in the group of my friends that played.

yes it is a translation you are right, and yes nostalgia is probably this number 1 reason. but for me population growing has the greatest amount of nostalgia out of any game out there... i have really no idea why. i played lots of other games besides this at the time.. odd

I agree. I think it sticks out so much because at the time, and even now, there isnt really any other game out there quite like it. Sure there are a lot of similar ones, but I dont think there will ever be a game thats the exact same.

I think because it's so different from all the others is the reason it's aged so well.

I know there is a lot more to do in new leaf. yes i like new leaf. But they kinda ruined the style of the game. Some people may like it but i don't.

I agree that the game has aged well - except for the menu control. That really bugs me from today's point of view. So fiddly and cumbersome!

I agree! The touchscreen on the DS makes using the menu so much easier! One thing I do miss about the menu that was in Population Growing is that you used to be able to change the menu background with shirts or patterns.

I don't seem to have any problem with the menu.. even after playing the new games a lot. Maybe i didn't get too used to the new controls.

I've never played that game. New Leaf is the first I've ever played. Will you tell me what you don't like about it compared to the original Game Cube one? I have the game because my nephews played it years ago when they were at my house but I haven't yet played it.

Well, it does have a lot going for it.

Features that were removed in future installments, the best soundtrack in the entire series, villager dialogue that isn't repetitive and sammy, and tons of other things that the original has that later installments dropped.

I miss the short villagers in New Leaf, they just had to make them grow taller :< That's what I like about the original!
Oh, and the balls! Those are fun to play with!
maybe I should go find my gamecube and animal crossing...
