Think about it: the Nintendo DS first came out in 2004, and that is a while ago and if it follows the pattern of others, it will very soon die out for the next Game Boy or DS around the block.

But also take into consideration Nintendo's final chance to cash in on the DS, the DSi. Now I won't be buying one since I personally think it's Nintendo's experiment for their next generation... but this also happened with the Game Boy Advance. They came out with the SP, very similar to the Lite upgrade to the DS. Then there was the Micro and remember what happened? It sold TERRIBLY because the DS was coming out in a few months.. and it had no functionality to play Game Boy games in which similar things are happening to the DSi!

Are you seeing the signs? They are just too obvious. The Micro lost functionality with Game Boy games.. the DSi lost functionality with GBA games..

Nintendo is just treading down a common path.

id say 3 years..........itl die out eventually but not be totally forgotten.....lots of ppl still play SP's and GBA's even the older ones......this just means new portable console or something better

As long as they keep making Ace Attorney stuff, this DS will never die in my eyes.

And, from the looks of it, they've got quite a bit planned for the future.

I hope it doesn't die, Because it was a good console. But lot's of people are still buying the DS.
& when DSi comes out then people might start buying that, and not DS

4 years +

I just don't see it dieing in two years or three, especially with the new DSi coming out. I already know people will buy those like hot cakes.

ds, maybe as it isnt a nice looking consol, but the likes of LITE and DSi will stay on, as they have more features.
in my opinion the best is the LITE, as the "i" gets rid of classic gba games, it has a better screen then the original, and it looks better too!

DIE PHAT, HELLO LITE!

for me i think the ds will die bout 2 years after the dsi. i think it will be like the wii. its like oo! it can take my pic! songs! omg! awsome! i actually think they should have designed the dsi more'' sleek'' it reminds me of the sp.

I think 3 years, because it wont go away any time soon cuz it's selling well. But, they will have to upgrade to a new system eventually. Maybe fall 2011-ish. I really dont know, but I'm happy with the DS... for now

there making a dsi :)

3 years...

the dsi is coming out soon (should be called iDS lol), and they'll probably continue to make games because of this.

i just wouldn't put it on the same level as... i dunno... game boy micro (omg remember that?)

I would also say 3 years, I still play on it, it's how i talk to ppl on the bus ^.^
