Is there any way to reset the outfits you give to a villager?

It seems like such an iffy mechanic. Like when I just started I forgot how giving outfits works, so I randomly gave a villager the ugliest shirt as a gift not knowing she'd wear it... then she ended up wearing it like ALL THE TIME. I'm sure this has happened to a ton of newbies/people who forgot how it worked as well. Is there a way to clear the outfits you gifted to them?

i'm pretty sure if you complain to isabelle about their clothes it should 'default' them but i'm not 100% on this

I'm not sure if it will work but have you tried talking to Isabelle?
I feel like even if you tell her to report their outfit, they might wear it still after??

If you complain to Isabelle about the "way they dress," it will reset the villager to default!

I did this earlier with Beau and he went back to his normal clothing!

Talk to Isabelle about a villager's clothes, it'll default their clothes after.
Don't worry about friendship, complaining to Isabelle doesn't lower their friendship with you

Go to Isabelle in Residental Services, ask to "Discuss a resident", pick said resident, and say "The way he/she dresses," and it'll reset them back to their default outfit,

You can always go to Harv's Island to experiment as well! You can dress up your villagers there.
