Hello everybody!

I've recently purchased my first Nintendo 3DS and decided to go with Animal Crossing: New Leaf as my first game. It's only been a couple of days, but I've found myself a little stuck on what to do. Yes, the game is cute, but all I seem to do is fish and pick up shells on the beach. Granted, I'm still waiting for my house to be set up, but is that really all there is to do in the meantime? Hence, I joined this site. I figured I might find a clue in here on what I should do next. After all, given all the rave reviews this game has received, there's got to be more to New Leaf than wasting hours finding a damn butterfly fish. As for me, I'm just an ordinary college student looking for something to do in between class and work. I'm excited to meet some new pals on here, so feel free to introduce yourselves and maybe give a suggestion or two.

:p

The game does start a bit slowly, however as you progress through the game you unlock lots of gameplay options. ACNL was designed to allow the player to create their own objectives and achieve them. For a guided gameplay experience, talk to Isabelle frequently as she provides guidance to progress.

The game also has a strong social mechanic which you might find enjoyable. Here on the forums you'll make new friends who will help inspire you. ACNL is a game of patience and I'd liken it to bonsai gardening.

You are welcomed into the ACNL community and I assure you, surprises await :)

I found myself in the same boat when I first started the game. I've played all the Animal Crossing games before and being the mayor is completely different than before. I had a lot of fun putting up Public Works Projects (PWPs) and designing my town to look how I wanted it to. You will be doing a lot of fishing and bug hunting for money, but iI like it better when I donate fish/bugs to the museum so it doesn't just feel like I'm doing it for nothing.

You'll find what you like best about the game as you play on, it may be gardening or decorating your house, you never know. But I know you'll find friendly people to help you out here around the forums! Have fun :)

Good thing you're getting involved. It's kind of like how I was getting major involved in other communities during WW.

Oh quiet you. I've been at work. :p
