Is there such thing as a template?

To my understanding, in more recent updates we can now edit others’ patterns? Is this correct? And if so, do any templates exist to show me the lines to follow so my path edge patterns are exactly lined up with straight and curved path edges, inner corners, etc, please? Hope that makes sense… Just wanna creature some fun path edges without spending forever trying to figure out where exactly to position them so they display correctly, thank you

I never heard about being able to edit other people's patterns. I certainly can't do it in my game. I'm pretty sure it's still the same as it's always been in all Animal Crossing games, and you can only edit your own patterns that you created from scratch yourself.

You can’t edit someone else’s pattern. You can only edit patterns that you created. You can’t even display someone else’s pattern in the tailor. They would have to come visit your town and display them on the wall. Your freedom is limited when it comes to patterns that other people have created, unfortunately.
