Is this a glitch?

I have an empty plot currently (9 villagers) and have been waiting for someone to move in. However there’s still nothing saying the plot has been claimed, and Tangy just asked about moving away? I thought a new villager had to move in first? I was at 10 villagers previously. Any insight please?

a plot does stay empty for at least a day prior to filling up.

did you try going to nook tickets island to ask a villager to move in?

It sounds like you just don't have anyone in your MIQ, which means the game does a 20% roll per day for autofilling the plot with a personality you're missing. It's not super common because a lot of people play online, but it's definitely not a glitch.

For comparison, the max campsite villager spawn is also 20%, and I'd say a lot of people would consider campsite visitors infrequent.
