I was thinking about possibly buying Happy Home Designer, but I wasn't sure if it was worth buying if I'm going to be able to blast through it and get it done...
And also do you have to have amiibo cards for it? Thank you!

I think it's work buying. I've put over 200 hours into it (for a $40 price tag that seems like a deal to me). I use it to help plan how I want my house and the houses of my villagers in New Leaf, and I just think it's fun to have access to all sorts of new items and ways of laying out furniture.

I recommend it too. Only problem I had with it was that you had to unlock stuff which made you kind of restricted at the start and the fact the game improves on interior design in ac so much that I hate it in acnl even more now lol.

But the game is great and it improves on a lot of stuff in interior design & animals have a lot of new animations and feel much more lively.

Also cards aren't required but you can't design everyones house without cards since some are card only.

If you love designing things, I'd say the game is for you. From what I have seen, some people haven't liked it because it's just a spinoff and it focuses solely on designing, but it just depends on what you like. If you want to try it out, by all means. It's fun, especially when you design a house with a friend/family member because you can bounce ideas off of each other to create a nice house with one another. I decorated a house with my mom once for Flo and I had a lot of fun. :)

Thanks guys! I've been thinking about it a little bit, and I might get this game once I get a little bit more money :) But I may get a physical copy of ACNL first before doing so. Thanks again!

Buy a used copy so you can at-least return it at gamestop if you dont like it
I got the game with my ACNL 3ds.I put a few hours into it but I personally didn't play to much I get tired of decorating ;_;

That's a good idea! I didn't even think about that :0 Thanks!

To me it is. I put it a lot of hours into it. I think my favorite part about it (putting the decorating aside) is that you can essentially "collect" all the villagers and then just visit them at any time. I actually got to meet a lot of villagers I have never interacted with in New Leaf and probably never will.

Yeah, I've wanted a game based on designing houses in animal crossing, and this is it but better

I think its worth it if its your type of game. If you love designing and being creative then definitely. For me it was well worth it but I have a few friends who are avid AC fans and love the series as much as I do, but simply didnt buy HHD just because the never liked designing games in the past. Its not everyones cup of tea which I think is why it hasnt had as much popularity as say New Leaf. But if you're interested in it then I am sure you will end up liking it c:

It's worth it if you like designing! :) I found HHD to be light hearted and relaxing. It also allows you to express your creativity & imagination, which was nice. However, you don't get the same personal reward feeling like you do in New Leaf. The villagers you design homes for like your designing no matter what, even if you did the complete opposite of what they wanted. The best part of the game, for me, was designing the town. That was really fun and I enjoyed being able to access items more easily than I would on New Leaf. My favorite building to design was the department store! Once the town was completely done though I got bored of it quickly.

In Canada, to buy the game with the NFC reader it was nearly $70 with taxes to buy new. For me, the game hadn't been worth it yet. Maybe I haven't played it enough yet, but I find there is just so much more to do in New Leaf then Happy Home Designer. I have gotten very far in New Leaf and I still put more game time into then Happy Home Designer. If I play it more, maybe I'll change my mind.
