After owning Population Growing, City Folk, and New Leaf, it's been on my mind lately that I am missing Wild World from my Animal Crossing collection. I like to try to complete series of games if I possibly can. The only reason why I've held off from buying it before is mainly due to hearing people say it's bad by today's standards. So what should I do? Also, if you have time, tell me why I should or should not get it. Thanks! :lemon:

When I got the first DS (I was 6 at the time) I was so pumped to get WW. I played it for about two years nonstop, and trust me it was addicting.
It certainly hasn't aged well, not in comparison to New Leaf. I hopped on WW the other day to restart my town and looking at it I wondered how I ever wanted it. It's certainly no competition to the later games and in terms of limitations, there are lots of aspects you're used to that aren't there in WW.
If you want a fresh new experience or a replacement for any of your other games, this isn't the game for you. But if you want a watered-down game where simplicity is at its best, then yes, I'd suggest buying it.

well I went super snooty girl on your arse I'm sorry

I have wild world, and i must say, i used to play it all the time on my DS Lite but on the 3ds the graphics look weird, im not sure whether thats because ive seen new leaf, and the graffics are better or not.

That is how i feel.

I had city folk before wild world and I can't play wild world

It's just so pixelly

A lot of things are missing from WW that are in the other games. There are no holidays, which is one big thing. I won't play it again because I know it will never be the same as when I first played it and it would ruin the memory for me. But if you're bored of New Leaf or Animal Crossing in general, I'd suggest getting Magician's World: Mysterious Times for the DS. It has the same graphics and charm of WW and the all the key things, like animal neighbors, but you're a magician and you go to a magical school. It has the fishing and bug catching too, plus magic and spells and actual quests added in.

Seconded! My close friend suggested Magician's Quest, and I had it myself before my younger sibling lost it. QQ The furniture is really nice and plus, you can be in a relationship with a villager, I think...

Well...Wild World was my first AC game, and I was pretty addicted to it. I agree it hasn't aged well, and now the graphics look weird to me after playing New Leaf. I've lost the cartridge for WW, but I would probably pick it up again if I could find it and if I'm bored of New Leaf. It's your choice, but tbh I wouldn't buy WW after experiencing New Leaf.

I wouldn't recommend getting it. At the time when I had it it was awesome and I played it for about a year and a half without going one day without it (sad, I know :') ) and after playing New Leaf for almost a year I went back to WW not long ago just to check up. The graphics looked really bad compared to NL and I just found it boring in comparison :/

It's lacking a lot of stuff from the originals. (like holidays)
You might as well pick up City Folk if you're gong to get that Wild World experience.

I downloaded an emulator to try it out the other day and I really didn't like it compared to new leaf :/

I'd say it is if you want a good insight to the earliest Animal Crossing games. It was the first game of the series that I played, and I loved it to bits.

Then again, I kind of class City Folk as an 'upgrade' to Wild World, so you'd basically be downgrading the game. I'd give it a go, I mean, it's not like it's an expensive ?/$30 new game.

I wouldn't recommend getting Animal Crossing: Wild World, unless you happen to be a serious collector.
Like many other users said, there's really not much to do. The lack of content came from the fact that the highest capacity of a DS game card available at the time when the game was released is 32MB. The game itself is weighing around 21MB, which explains the lack of content in comparison of Animal Crossing and the "rusty" graphics. The development team wanted to release the game worldwide as fast as they could by not including real life holidays. It's clear that the game will never age well over time.
The game also had its online play, but it no longer works since the servers are completely shut down since May 20th 2014. If you need to upgrade from Nookway to Nookington's, you need to have someone coming over and buying something at your store. For that matter, the only way to so is playing DS to DS with another copy of AC:WW.

tl;dr version: I don't recommend getting Animal Crossing: Wild World, because the game hasn't aged well. The lack of content came from a technical shortcoming and the decision of releasing to worldwide as soon as possible. The online functions are stripped down since the servers shutdown from May 20th 2014.

Thank you for the input guys! This has really helped my decision making process. I have decided to hold off for quite a while to get the game. If I ever find a good deal, then the tide will turn and I will buy it. Until then though, I'll happily continue on my copies of PG, CF, and NL. Thanks again! :lemon:

Back in the days I really loved ACWW I used to play it all the time and I wouldn't leave my house without my dsi.. when accf came out I enjoyed it slightly more than ACWW then stopped playing both for a while.. when acnl came out I liked it waaaay more than acww and accf combined but if you like lower graphics and less experience in the old game then go for it! I literally restarted acww 5 times and it all felt the same

I love Wild World, but New Leaf renders it obsolete. I mean, New Leaf is SOOOO good, xD

Well, at the point it came out it was worth having, but it's still in my opinion the lesser of all the Animal Crossing games. It just feels lacking to me, while I will say to finish out the collection, it's worth picking up somewhere selling it for cheap, like a flea market, yard sale, used game shop, etc. It's main purpose was a handheld Animal Crossing, and it is now obsolete by it's superior, New Leaf. Wild World left out to much from the old game, which brought it down in quality for me.

No in my opinion, maybe if it's something super cheap and you're bored, but the game is really boring, bad quality and not worth it in my opinion.
