Hey audio diary. It's..
-panting-
.. Isabelle. I just came back and ran to record this entry, so sorry for the pauses.
-slower panting-
I just got off the train to come back to Mori. I'm so relieved but I'm also terrified and emotionally scarred by what happened in the Badlands at the Council hearing.
-sniffle-
-small panting-
So I walked in with my back straight, arms at my side, trying not to look nervous. I walked into the room, and was instantly mortified. There must've been 40 Council members, in suits and dresses, all staring. I couldn't see their faces; they'd darkened the room so I couldn't make out anyone's identity. But one of the members, a lady by the sound of it, instantly began to go on about my possible punishments and why what I had done was wrong and disrespectful to the Council. Finally, someone asked me, "Do you know why you're here?" I nervously but firmly replied, "No, sir. I am not aware as to why I have been called here." I didn't want to make them mad by using shortcuts in my speaking.
-small cough-
He shuffled some papers, and told me I'd "done construction and tore down dozens of trees without any notification and was greatly disrespecting the Council by trash-talking with Digby". When I heard this, I was so confused. Any construction we'd done was written in the nature report I'd sent in a day ago. We tore down around 10 trees to build a police station around a week ago. Then it hit me; the nature report must've been late for some reason. But I didn't want to speak up. I was too scared of messing up. Then, they went on about punishments. "Fine from the Council, Banning from Mori, strip of any personal possession, the hammer." When I heard the last punishment they could award if they wanted, I wanted to cry and beg for mercy. They didn't mean jail, they literally meant the hammer. The end.
But I fought on, making sure that I kept a straight face. When they asked for defense, almost daring me to say anything, I replied, "Good sirs and madams, I believe that I have been falsely accused. I know I included our recent construction in our nature report, which I ask to see." When they filed around the papers, they couldn't find it. Then, someone came in running with a stack of papers. Mori's nature report was finally here. It was given to the head member, who skimmed it. He curtly nodded and replied, "I see you have documented this construction. Therefore, we will not charge you with undocumented information. However, we will ask for a fine for both the late report and for your trash talking."
-sigh of relief after the long talk-
-long pause-
I gave them 50,000,000 Bells to pay for the fines, and got the hell out of there as soon as I could. I took a train straight back home, and here I am now. That was the scariest experience of my life. I hope I don't get another one.
