i've been on and off with a cold the last few days and today i woke up feeling totally disgusting so i took the day off school. however, i was already up early due to my alarm, so i decided to take out my switch and go on animal crossing (the last time i went on was about a month ago). i thought, hey, i'm sick, so why don't i do some island self-care?

it feels good to be back even if i wasn't gone for as long as i normally am. i cleaned out weeds, sold a lot of fossils, made bank off cj who happened to be there today, and i even scanned in my judy amiibo card to my campsite! i'm excited to have her join me, hopefully she wants to switch with a villager i dislike :')

anyway, i wanted to ask, what do you guys usually do when you come back from a long animal crossing break? are there specific things you like to do that make your island feel more cared for? i would love to hear your thoughts <3

p.s. i just remembered festivale is coming up and i could not be more excited!

Every time i come back, I dispose the weeds and stray flowers off my island and do a little cleaning.

Although I started to flatten my island and redoing the layout of it.

When you invite a camper using an Amiibo, you get to choose who gets kicked out.

I usually will tackle something that frustrated me the last time that I played (which is usually what made me stop playing hahaha). After a break I tend to not be so worried about how something looks and can more easily tear it down if I'm not happy with it or throw things at it and be okay enough with it to move on for a bit. And I also like to find areas that I've been procrastinating and give them some love, whether it's just filling them with flowers/trees or actually doing a little decor to make them not feel awkwardly empty.

I usually stop playing for a while when the pressure of playing every day becomes too much. I always end up tackling too many remodeling projects at once, and the need to check the nook shop furniture, and talk to my villagers, dig up fossils, check visiting NPCs, swim for an hour to find that scallop... It starts to feel stressful instead of relaxing (I have bad anxiety, so a back massage is stressful for me lol). I also used to do a lot of time travelling, so my island is OVERRUN with flowers, and that causes its own issues for me.

I came back to playing a few days ago myself, and the first thing I usually do is tackle something that seemed overwhelming before. This time, I rerouted the river near my home to give myself some more yard space and cleared out a large section of flowers. The open space feels much more freeing!

I usually pick weeds, dig up fossils, sell crops and pumpkins, and harvest any money trees I have. Then I talk to my villagers and just sort of do my thing ^^
