Island Transfer Tool

I'm hoping someone who has experience with the Island Transfer Tool will be able to help me out on this one.

So my friend has a switch lite, and she got another switch (normal one) through a contract deal, and gave it to her daughter. She's now wanting to swap consoles with her daughter, but they both have islands set up, and from what I can tell from what I've read about the transfer tool, one copy of the game needs to be 'blank', so no island at all.

Is there a way for them to swap islands to the different consoles without sacrificing one, or is one going to need to be reset? Or what can they do basically?

One needs to be reset. This is the way Nintendo has set it up, however, you should be able to use the Cloud Save to restore the island to the other Switch.

Make sure Cloud Save is enabled and has backed up recently.

Once cloud save is enabled and working, you'll need to call Nintendo for the restoration. Make sure you explain that you've got a new console and want your old save from the previous console.
