So in prep for the new update I kinda wanna restart island. (Really hating it) I've had the game since launch and am wondering about some items that nintendo gave out but now are not longer available in game. I know of the 1st anniversary cake. Is there anything else that I should give to my sister to hang onto for me?

Nothing is entirely unattainable. :]
That said, anything you had a hard time collecting would be a good idea to drop. DIYs that are annoying to get. Some wood of every kind, stones, iron, etc. would also be helpful for you to start with.

Personally, I would see if your sister would be willing to hold onto any event items and bug/fish models you like. Everything else should be fairly easy to obtain.
