It's not horrible, but...

I thought it was great, but I also judge games by hour many hours I clock in it. At over 400 hours, I think HHD was a solid title.

It was rather a meh to me. It's not bad though. Wish there was more stuff to do in the game to make it more fun than building and decorating houses/buildings.

I thought it was a very well fleshed-out game for its concept. Was well worth my money, I'd say.

I have to say, the game was pretty fun to play when you're in a car, at a hotel, or even while waiting for something when you're not home. Although the interior design mechanic is better than New Leaf's as you can unleash your creativity at any time, this game is not really like New Leaf, where you have more limits and restrictions. New Leaf at least puts some challenge as it encourages you to trade online. And it has more features (shopping, museum donations, hunting fish and insects, and town decorating).

I actually really enjoy this game! Although, it'd be nice if there was an option to decorate our own house.

yeah compared to hhd and acnl, I like gameplay s like acnl more. I hope they add some of the features and furniture in hhd into acnl in the future :))

It was fun while it lasted, but after you're done designing the town and a few villager homes, you start to get bored. for me the excitement period ended once all the town projects were completed. sometimes I play HHD again just to walk around the town and go into all the buildings I designed

Its quite fun when you need a relaxing game but it does get boring quite quickly once you've built all the big shops and villagers houses you like.
I will admit its fun though to dress up all the animals in different clothes and visit the big buildings you've built ^^

Admittedly I don't play HHD nearly as often as I play New Leaf, but I spent 4 hours decorating houses the first night I played it (didn't even freak out about the tornado just across the lake I lived next to), and I spent another several hours playing it last night :D I tend to leave it for a while, come back and be like "Why don't I play this every day???"

I honestly adore the game, takes away the pressure of needing to play everyday which I hate about the main series Animal Crossing games

It was rather a meh to me. It's not bad though. Wish there was more stuff to do in the game to make it more fun than building and decorating houses/buildings.

I wish there was more too, it makes no sense why the player can't have their own house. :/

IMO this game is pretty much acnl extension pak. I don't dislike the game, it's just that I wish that they had implemented the feature of placing furniture on your beach in acnl instead (you know, furniture that belongs outside like the doghouse, beach chair, doormats, picnic table)

I never bought the game because I know it would/does not appeal to me. Maybe it would to the <16 year old me that also had a lot more time on the hand in general.

It's great to build a house when you are bored. I don't usually bother much with the theme they ask for anymore. I only regret when I spend a lot of time on a home and villager and I don't have their amiibo card. Because after getting so invested I like to bring them to our amiibo festival board for a while.

Until the new leaf update these two games are what my husband and I play the most. It's pretty relaxing!

I really like the design aspect of Happy Home Designer, so I like this game a lot as well. I really don't understand people judging this game for only having design aspects and that they expected more in it. I mean the title 'Happy Home Designer' is pretty self-explanatory. I knew it was a spin-off and did not expect to have a life in HHD same way as I have in New Leaf. Granted, villagers should not only have a single line when you speak with them in town, but I can disregard that because I never expected the interaction to be as detailled as in New Leaf. It is all a matter of the perspective. And let's be real, they improved the design aspect in HHD drastically, I really hope it will be added to New Leaf with the approaching fall update.

I agree. I really like some aspects of it and I hope they would incorporate the home designing features into future animal crossing games. It all feels a bit like they just tagged the animal crossing name on to it to appeal to the massive fanbase AC has.
I've only played it a handful of times since buying it, I think it would have appealed to me more had there been some sort of town to be able to wander around. I would love if they allowed us to design villager houses in future games

It's likely aimed more at a Japanese audience than prior games. Everyone I'm sure is away of Aika, and how popular that Japanese town is. Many, many Japanese players took to the designing aspect of the series, and ran with it, making a designing game a perfect spin-off. Look how many Japanese players keep dominating these monthly challenges! Oh well, it's got its fun moments, and if you love designing in Animal Crossing, you'll take to this, but that's literally all you'll do, since it is a design-based game that incorporates amiibo. Some are required (specials can only do houses using their cards), others aren't (regulars that aren't DLC or Carrie). That's it, a design-focused game using amiibo.

I love it, but I also realize it's not for everyone. I always loved the designing aspect of Animal Crossing myself, and this scratches that itch just nicely.
