Just announced, the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories game (currently only announced in Japan to date) will be receiving their very own amiibo set.

I believe this is the second third party set, coming after Shovel Knight, which is good because it means Nintendo is allowing more third parties to branch out with amiibo. I would love to get this set because they look amazing. I only really want the Rathalos ones though, I don't really care about the cat. Though this being a Monster Hunter spin-off, it's highly doubtful the game (and the amiibo) will be released outside of Japan, but you can always pray or import.

"There will be three brand-new amiibo launched alongside the game (October 8th). Two of these are of the protagonist riding the One-Eyed Rathalos, with one amiibo for each gender, while the third is of the player’s partner, Nabiru. These amiibo will grant players unique monsters in-game. Furthermore, Capcom plans to release a second set of amiibo after release."

Nabiru (the cat) will cost 1,200 yen, whilst the Rathalos amiibo will cost 1,800 yen each.

That's Japan for you! It looks like Nintendo shifting from the usual DLCs to amiibos these days. Kinda milking money just to get income. But well, it's kinda nice to see that the collectors get these figurines and hoping that it goes to NA too.

I wonder if it's also compatible with MH Gen. Palico costumes maybe?

MH Gen has been out in Japan since November 2015 and has no amiibo support. Without a patch (which is highly doubtful), it probably wont get amiibo support.
Not to mention, main series MH games are usually announced around June in Japan, so the next big one should be coming up soon, and will probably release towards the end of the year if they follow their previous patterns, thus making MHX/Gen useless in Japan since they'll all be playing the new version. So they're most likely not going to release a patch, because they'd just save amiibo support for the next main series game in Japan (and they're not going to release an amiibo only patch for the localized game).

For some reason, I couldn't get into the MH combat style, even though I really liked the look of MH4U when I did get to play it. Maybe if I try it at a different time I'll enjoy it more. If I do, I'll definitely try to get my hands on these. They look *amazing*.

I want that female avatar amiibo, it's adorable :D

If in doubt I'll try to import it, though I'm hoping the game just gets released in the West.

With those clear bases, I'm right in assuming those are just 'display models'?

Monster Hunter Stories is more of a typical JRPG with turn based combat, so if you didn't like the gameplay of Monster Hunter but liked liked everything else, this might be the game for you!

Yano, if it gets released outside of Japan.

Oh, sweet! That does seem more my thing. I do like more action-based games as well, provided they have a certain pace to the combat.

Here are some official images of the amiibo. Japan is also getting a diorama for them.

Oooh these are the first amiibos I have been interested in enough to actually buy them. Especially the girl one and it looks like there is another in the 2nd batch.

I am very excited! Their detail is very impressive. I hope they come to the NA (along with the game, of course). Otherwise, I don't usually import too much because it gets expensive but...

Dang man those looks awesome -w- Hope they make an EU release or similar...
