Smash Bros Joker in smash!!

I look forward to getting through off by persona 5 joker even more, since my mind always defaults to thinking persona 2: innocent sin joker whenever persona joker is mentioned
i'm autistic so i'm gonna absolutely go off, please forgive me.
i've been in a terrible depression slump lately so this makes me EXTREMELY happy!!! seriously, about 5 people messaged me about the news while i was asleep and i have two plushies and a figure. considering what they did with the monster hunter amiibo and felyne, and while this is a bit far fetched, i hope in animal crossing 2018 they do the same kinda thing with the smash joker amiibo and morgana!
i've looked through the frames and it alludes to his final smash being arsene, which makes a lot of sense. i think it'd be cool if it had a bit of an "all out attack" look to it like in the source material since final smashes are flashy and to the point now.
i'm really looking forward to this! i can see the music fitting very well. maybe a palace stage or a jack frost assist trophy? maybe i' dreaming too much. the fact ridley, king k rool, mewtwo, AND joker in this game is making the little 11 year old in me flip as well as my current self! i'm definitely maining him when he comes out, and i'm looking very forward to his play style! i feel like he's going to be a fast character, maybe with some gun ranged attacks. for some reason i expect him to have a bit of a melee focus, but since he uses magic/personas in the actual game that could be open to interpretation, but since he's using his persona for his final smash(?) i doubt it.

You know. The Persona series has nothing to do with Nintendo at all. So I guess this means characters from non-Nintendo games that don’t make sense can be in smash.
(I know, the Fire Emblem characters, Sonic, Pac Man, and Bayonetta have nothing to do with Nintendo, but it makes sense. A Persona character in smash doesn’t.)
You know what that means. I don’t want him, but Sora has a chance.
I still want Villager from Mario Kart 8 in smash, and seeing how this guy was chosen, I’m really in high hopes.

How do Fire Emblem characters have nothing to do with Nintendo exactly? It's literally a Nintendo IP.

yeah i know absolutely nothing about Persona 5, except for the little I've looked it up never played it though. I think he looks like an interesting character though. I would pick up persona 5 if it came to switch too, which hopefully that will happen. I think he does seem very Smash-esque if you ask me. I love that all the leakers across youtube and the internet never saw this coming, they are such trash at this point.
My one question is does he use a sword? Because if so I'm less enthusiastic given how many sword people there are.

no, he uses a gun as well as two daggers.
i'm assuming it'll be quick dagger stabs for melee and gun for ranged. hope this clears things up!

Never played any of the Persona games, but I fully welcome him in Smash Bros.! Honestly, that trailer gave me goosebumps because I did not see that coming.
The Persona series doesn't exactly have nothing to do with Nintendo. It is an offshoot of the SMT series which is majorly prominent on Nintendo systems. The newest one is coming to the Switch, for example. Plus, there are Persona spinoffs that appear on Nintendo systems. Persona Q2 features Joker and is a 3DS game.
With that said, I still think you're hitting toward a valid point here. While Joker appears in Q2 and the SMT series is large on Nintendo systems... Persona itself really isn't with all of the mainline titles being Sony exclusive (someone correct me if I'm wrong). And the trailer is clearly pointing toward Persona 5, even saying Super Smash Bros Ultimate X Persona 5.
No matter what anyone tries to say, this is awkward. Persona 5 is exclusive to PS3/PS4.
I say this being a big fan of Persona 5 and actually being personally excited for this character. It just doesn't sit right either way.
FE being a Nintendo series has already been addressed, so I'm going to move onto the giant elephant in the room that you failed to mention: Cloud. When Cloud was added in SSB4 his only appearance on Nintendo systems was a card cameo in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories on the GBA and the Theatrhythm games. There has never been a more "has nothing to do with Nintendo" addition than Cloud. Cloud is practically the mascot of the Final Fantasy series once it left Nintendo systems.
A port of Final Fantasy VII is now confirmed to be coming to a Nintendo platform, but... Despite being a general video game icon, Cloud's addition was very strange.
Hey, better than Cloud. At least Sora has several titles on Nintendo systems to his name (Chain of Memories, RE:Coded, Dream Drop Distance). However, apparently Sora is Disney owned and that makes things more complicated for him.
Personally, if we're just going to throw the rest of the roster to 3rd party characters, Sora is actually one I'd personally really want. Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney and Amaterasu from Okami, as well. Sadly, I don't think any of them are even "likely" aside from maybe Phoenix Wright. I don't even know about that.
Instead we'll probably get a lineup of 3rd party characters that have nothing to do with Nintendo. *sigh*

I've tried watching playthroughs of Persona games and I really can't bring myself to care about them.
That said, as long as the character is fun to play then I'm content with his inclusion.

Looking forward to his move set and Amiibo! I don't think I'll get it myself, but I'm always interested to see how they make the more mature characters look. It certainly gives hope to more outlining game series. I know they wanted to make Croc happen, but it's been some time since that IP has seen any action, so I don't know how well received that would be.

Not personally excited for him, but he looks interesting as a character that will (hopefully) add some more spice to the game. Also, thank goodness he doesn’t use a sword. If they added another sword-wielding character I don’t know what I would do, lmao
