Drift seems to be a common issue with joy-con controllers. I've just had issues with the left one making Link walk to the left with two of them now. I replaced the first left joy-con with the Hori brand d-pad controller, for a bit over 20 bucks. That might have been the cheapest option, but they haven't been selling well so the local Gamestop isn't keeping any in stock. So the remaining option is to save up for the official $80 two pack?

Of course that d-pad controller doesn't have the motion controls or rumble.

Just a tip: remember that you can always sell your drifting joy-cons on Ebay and make a bit of money for the purchase of a new one!! I know it seems strange, why would someone buy a drifting / broken joy-con, but believe me - it should sell. I actually had a broken, not working DualShock 4 (PS4 controller) and I just put it in storage, thinking I'll never be able to sell it... but then I listed it on Ebay and boom - money. :3

It probably won't give you back all of the money, but at least a bit. : )

If you're confident in your abilities, then you could replace the Joystick yourself for quite cheap actually off Ebay. I would watch several tutorials first though if you decide to do this so you don't break them more than they already are.

Order some electric contact cleaner (make sure you get the right stuff, check reviews) and watch a guide on YouTube. I used to have regular drifting now they seem like new when I apply it

I found this article!! They will be fixing it free of charge. But yeah, always go to customer service first. Playstation and Xbox are pretty awful with their customer service, but Nintendo and Amazon are good and almost always helpful. They don't mention this "free of charge" everywhere on the Internet to make sure that scalpers and other people who take advantage of these free offers don't use this.

So, yeah just go to Nintendo customer service - they should fix the joy-cons.

I'm wondering if they're going to do the same for pro controllers as they suffer from the same issue. I'm about to be going onto my third pro controller in the 2 year period that I've owned a Switch. I'm currently using my Super Smash Bros one, but I don't want to be using that one for too long as I know the same thing is going to happen to it and there's no way I can replace it. It's a really annoying issue to be honest :/

I didn't even knew that this Joy-Con drift problem was so big, just heard about it for the very first time
two weeks ago or so, where the Switch Lite was announced and everyone asked if the Lite gets a fix for
that drift issue. Luckily, I never had this problem with my Joy-Cons before.

My left one has been gotten so worse. when it was very minor it didn't happen as oftern and all I had to do was to touch the stick and the character wouldn't be moving until I wanted to. Now I can't even have my character stay still it's so annoying! A few days ago playing minecraft I started to feel like going backwards was slower than normal.
in Pok?mon let's go using the right one is much better. Using the left one I can only go south slowly and my character looks like it's glitching becouse my joy con drifts upwards so going downwards is a bit slow. But my right one is very fine

I didn’t realize that this is such a big issue. Though I do use my Pro Controller most of the time so far (that’s bound to change when AC comes out as I’ll be playing that more handheld for sure).

My right joycon was drifting horribly. It's better after I updated, then calibrated it. It still drifts some but nowhere near as badly, It's still annoying that this is even a 'thing". It shouldn't be. Especially considering how much a Switch costs. Replacement joycons are $80 a pair here, so buying new ones that will eventually have the same problem isn't the solution either. Bleah.

It's nice that Nintendo is finally fixing joy cons but sad that it took an article/lawsuit before they did anything. I hope they spent time to make a better joy con. Fixing and sending it in over and over isn't going to help. I've have the original controllers for other Nintendo consoles and never had problems.

I have a switch and usually played dock with a pro controller. For Let's Go I bought a set of Joy-Cons so they didn't have to be removed all the time. Noticed my player would move down the screen when I didn't touch the controller. I also had problems with online trading when the right controller stopped working.

Bought another pair of Joy Cons for my 2nd switch. Paid for an extra warranty.

I sent my Joy-Cons off today to be fixed, so I won't be playing any Switch games for a while. But I've heard that even after they fix it the problem could return after a while. If that happens, I'll just sell my old ones on Ebay and then buys some new ones. Hopefully Nintendo will have this Joy-Con issue worked out so I won't have to.

I've never actually had this problem with the switch but I did have issues with buttons sticking on the wii u.

I never had a problem with drift and I've probably owned 4 sets of Joycons at this point.
Can't say that I use them too often, mainly when playing Tetris 99.

Well currently I only have one set (Neon Green)
But I had a Set of Neon Blue, Set of Neon Red(which I shell swapped with jungle green, then later sold) and a Pink/Yellow set.
But I'll be full in on a Orange set when the other half gets announced/released.

Oh

I got basic black ones so ill probably buy a pair of cute ones tbh.

Do they announce upcoming joycon colors or something

Never had a single issue with my Joy-Cons and I play almost everyday with my Switch. Kinda surprising
to see how many people have/had to deal with the same problem.

Nintendo announced some new pairs(Blue/Neon Yellow and Neon Purple/Neon Orange). They are currently up for pre-order and release on October 4.
