Ok, so I just had to let this out. Years ago, I was on a bus, and Pokemon cards were popular again. This girl wanted to trade with me (now, this girl and I did not get along too well, but I wanted to be nice and give her the benefit of the doubt) and I decided it would be ok. I handed her my deck, and looked out the window. I look back at her, and she and her friend were shuffling through my cards, and staring at me a little. When they handed my deck back, I immediately noticed my freaking 2012 world championship Mewtwo EX was missing, amongst other cards. I'm talking japanese cards from the jungle set and everything. So I asked her where these cards were, as I had them right before I gave her my deck. She, of course, said she didn't know. I asked her again, and she kept lying to me. I was pretty upset, because they weren't only rare, but were cards from my uncle's collection that he passed down to me and my bro to split. I managed to remember which ones were stolen recently and bought some back, but I can't find the Mewtwo I had anywhere, and It made me peeved again.

Ugh, sorry! Just had to rant and get that out. What do you guys think? Did I overreact or anything?

I don't think you really over-reacted in that scenario, especially considering you were a kid and it was a rare card that your uncle had given specifically to you. My brother had went through a very similar case with his old Pokemon cards back in primary school, and even now it will sometimes get brought up somehow and we'll get angry at the kid who stole his deck for some reason haha. Because of this though, when my eldest brother gave me his old deck of yugioh cards, I made sure not to ever let anyone touch them or have a look through them. In fact I didn't actually bring them to school at all until I started playing alot of yugioh battles in secondary school I believe.

Aw, man. That sucks :( in hindsight, I probably shouldn't have given her my whole deck, especially since we didn't really get along...

It's a live and learn experience. In general, not just with trading cards but with anything, when making an exchange, it's best to show them what you have rather than letting them sort through it themselves, especially if you have things you can't easily replace. The only thing you can do is be thankful it was just Pokémon cards and not something much more important and move on.

Ugh, that made me mad for you. No, you didn't overreact, because those were YOUR cards that were passed down to YOU. Unfortunately, life is always gonna be full of crappy people who will throw low blows at you wherever you go. All you can do is be the bigger person

As Tarantella said, luckily it was just something as small as trading cards and just look at it as a life lesson. Better to learn when you're young rather than be backstabbed when you're older.

Kids are still doing this ****? I had the same thing happen to me when I was back in like... middle school or so. Handed my deck to someone to show them, looked away, special Charizard card was stolen. Very annoying having your stuff stolen. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't do anything stupid with stealing something when I was younger.

omfg what a heartless *****! I hate theives... can't trust people appearently. Just don't ever bring your stuff to school. Especially things as valuable as THAT! >.>

I don't remember ever having any of my cards stolen (unless my older brother DID take my fav cloyster card?) but about 2009 when I was 12 me and my little brother were cleaning the room one time and he told me to just throw away all the Pokemon cards I spent time and MONEY on collecting because, oh, "your too old" "they're useless" "pokemon is stupid" "kids are gonna beat you up for collecting pokemon cards" and all that crap so I guess I finally caved since I was just going through a lot that year. Really regret it. Especially the Lake Trio cards I finally got. Not like I NEED them but something I still wish I had for memories sake I guess.
