I think the paperclip means you're subscribed, and the green/white checkmarkabobby means you've posted in it. The checkmark thing has only appeared besides threads which I've posted in. I just went into an art shop thread that I've been subscribed to but never posted in and when I clicked on the title, the paperclip was there, not the checkmark.
