The Kirby and the Forgotten Land demo dropped recently and I am surprised that I quite enjoyed it! I didn’t really have any expectations going into it but after playing the first three levels, I’m actually excited for the game and am going to pre-order it. The graphics are great in my opinion and the characters are very charming. If you’ve played the demo, what do you think of it?
I'm downloading the demo, right now. As someone who hasn't play a Kirby game outside of Kirby's Adventure, I'm intrigue with this one. This is the first truly 3-D Kirby game, correct? Anyway, I'll update this post once I've played it to give my thoughts on it.
UPDATE: Now that I finally got the chance to play the demo, I have to say, I'm impressed with how much it plays as a 3-D re-imagining of Kirby's Adventure; though that's not saying much, because this franchise owns a lot to that game. It looks really good, too. Probably one of the best looking games on the Switch. Three levels is just about right for the demo. While I'm not entirely sold on the game yet, I liked what I saw, and I'll keep in touch with the reviews and sales. It wouldn't surprise me if another Nintendo franchise had a best seller on the Switch.
Oooh! I'm gonna download it and give it a go! I was holding off on buying since Switch games are expensive but I have high hopes for this game and hope it ends up being a good one! Glad there is a demo! Downloading now.
I played the first stage and it's pretty fun. I really want to like Kirby, but never could get into any games besides Squeak Squad. But this is one I could see myself playing.
I'm quite a big Kirby fan but haven't played many older games - mainly just Wii and onwards. Based on the demo, I think this will be the one of the best Kirby games. The 3D environments work better than I expected they would with Kirby's gameplay and the graphics are fantastic. Also, the demo just seemed to be well made and showed off more of the game than I expected it would for free.
I played the demo! The graphics are very nice and it kept the same Kirby charm that are in past games. I'm very happy that they're taking this more open world design for the series! I'll be passing for now though, and keeping my eye on a second hand version. The camera angles bug me unfortunately.
I had already pre-ordered it anyway, but I downloaded the demo last night and played the first level. I agree that the characters are very charming. The graphics look nice, the colours are bright, and I really love the scenery. I haven't tried it, but even though it's a common feature in Kirby games, I still appreciate that there's a co-op mode as well.
I really enjoyed my time with the demo. Everything about it is incredibly charming, from the lush, colorful environments to the array of cute characters and enemies. If I had to pick one thing I wasn't particularly fond of it would probably be the lack of exploration. There exists exploration and rewards for the player for venturing outside the main path. But it doesn't feel like it offers enough of that. There are many times where the scenery looks like I could jump off of it and traverse the outer corners, but for much of the game, invisible walls will box you into a confining corridor-style level design. Granted, it's important to remember that this is a demo of the early stages of the game, so it will doubtless open up at least a little bit more in the full game. But I would still have liked the game to feel a bit more open from the start.
Regardless, this is a game I'm keen to pick up at some point, provided it doesn't release to something entirely different from what the demo entails.
