Since LadyTimpani suggessted two similar to what I created for me to look at (thank you!), I will change this thread to a new topic!

What is your favorite type of bird? I?ve always loved birds and bird watching (birding). I think my favorite are the Sandpipers! Do you have any cool stories of experiences you?ve had with birds?

I?ve had red winged blackbirds eat of my hand, they?re so cool! I want to hand feet a hummingbird soon, with a small nectar cup designed for doing that.

Omg okay I love birds haha. I’ve never gotten around to actually doing any bird watching (as far as like going out and actually seeking particular birds), but I’d really like to get into it soon! I really love northern cardinals. We usually get a lot of birds nesting in our backyard this time of year— usually it’s just mourning doves and robins, but last year we had cardinals build their nest in a butterfly bush right up against our deck, and that was really cool because we could look right into it. There’s always a bunch of ducks and geese in the park my mom and I walk our dogs in, too, and lately I’ve been seeing a falcon (I assume it’s just the one, although I really don’t know for sure) hanging around our neighborhood.

As far as weird bird stories go, there’s someone in our neighborhood who apparently owns a Guinea fowl that just roams around on its own. A couple weeks ago it was just hanging out in our backyard, and about a year ago or so my mom and I were driving and it flew over the hood of her car and scared the hell out of us (for those who have never seen them before, Guineas are pretty big).

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I thought they’d merge together.

i love birds!! i love sandpipers as well, they're so cute! i love watching them bounce around the beach.
cardinals i would say are my favorite birds. our old mailbox had cardinals on them and we have a stained glass cardinal thing hanging in our kitchen. red is also my favorite color so that's another reason i like them. also, my dad grew up in st. louis, home to the st. louis cardinals, so ahah :D
i also like all small birds. they're so cute!
oh, and woodpeckers. i just think they're neat.

as for stories, i dunno! well, once i went to gatorland and they have like this giant bird cage thing with a BUNCH of budgerigars. they even offered sticks of bird seed and they'd eat off of your hand or whatever. sometimes one would land on someone's head or hat, and some people would have their entire arms covered by these birds. i had a lot picking at my sneakers aha. it was fun!

My favorite birb is this smol round boi

But on topic, um, my favorite would have to be hummingbirds! I have several that live close by and I've set up a bird feeder for them. <3

i love birds so much, holy crap. my favorite ones are ducks (check out my signature) but i also really want a pet green chek or sunset canure. also blue jays and robins are beautiful

The Galah.

I tamed one and taught him to talk around 20 years ago.

Rex was his name.
I miss him. :(

So cool to see how many of you also love birds :D

My quaker parrot Chilli is actually a bit frightened by the birds outside. If he looks out the window and spots one he gets pretty startled XD

The types of hummingbirds near my house are Anna’s fall/winter/spring and Rufous in the spring/summer.

Once I went to some sort of sewage plant to see a rare duck with a fluffy head XD
Also to a pond at a golf course to see some baby green herons! They were so cute.

I looked them up, they are so beautiful! Rex must’ve been a very special bird.

He was.
He used to drink my coffee with me.
He'd be on my shoulder (like a pirate!) and climb down my arm to take a drink.

He loved it.
I never let him have too much though!

I kept saying hello to him, then one morning, in a croaky voice, he said it back! ^_^

Since I live in New Zealand it's really hard to chose but I'd have to say both the fantail and Kiwi (obviously) are my fav birds ^-^

Oh and the little blue penguin

Edit: Google all three cause they're all super cewl

There's a bird called a killdeer. I think that's how it's spelled. I have this rock area in my front yard and every year, the mamma lays eggs in the rocks. They are hard to see because they blend right in. When you get too close, the mom walks away from the eggs and acts like she's hurt. The dad will also fly down and pretend to be wounded. This is how they keep the eggs safe. It's really very fascinating.

When the eggs hatch, the baby birds ( so very tiny), imediately start running around. They are super fast, and usually hide under our shed. The parents stay close by, and will still pretend to be wounded if you get too close.

Cutest thing ever. :)

Oh, and one time my daughter walked up to one and thought it was dead, came running in the house to tell me. When I went to inspect the dead bird, it was running around, just fine. I had to explain to her how they will also play dead.

my neighborhood has so many awesome birds-- my favorite are the screech owls (will try to find a pic i have when one let me get up close).

i used to see packs of wild green parakeet, but i dunno where theyve gone, its been a long time since any were around

saw some red cardinals today, often see bluejays, woodpeckers, a lot of ibis, and all kinds of cranes and egrets. some large raptors too, not sure if theyre eagles or falcons; see smaller osprey sometimes as well, occasioanlly one has a fish in itstalon which os pretty kuhl

somebody in my neighborhood has a peacock, i hear it at night sometimes

When I was a little girl, my aunt told me while showing me her stone bird ( I think it's how it's called? ) that was white and small as heck, that she's collecting its fallen feathers and planning to make a duvet of it. I just smiled to her and thought
"I don't think it's even possible, aunt. ;v;"

Was it a buffelhead? They got fluffy heads and are super pretty!

My favorite bird is an egret, they're so beautiful with their wispy feathers <3!!

I went to a wetland conservation and got to see tons of beautiful birds and there is where I found out about cinnamon teal ducks, which are smaller than mallards and really beautiful! The males look just like the name implies, a beautiful rusty cinnamon color with teal shift colors in the wings. SOOO pretty!

I love love LOVE sandpipers. They're not around where I live, but I go to Maine every year and I think I look forward to seeing them the most lol

I have two cockatiels named Matthew and Zeke. They were both rescues (Matthew was abused, and Zeke was neglected) and we love them forever. Zeke is super skinny fsr, we feed him all the time, and Matthew's just a fluffy orb now.
They are suuuuper territorial, but they like to go in eachother's cages from time to time.

As of stories, earlier last night, Matthew was in Zeke's cage, and Zeke was on the door of his cage trying to get back in. They also occasionally climb on eachother's backs.

They're currently sleeping fluffily, as it's 4:39 rn.

I want one desperately! They seem like excellent pets, and I'd absolutely adore a parrotlet or rainbow lorikeet. Unfortunately, living in a close-quartered mobile home complex means our neighbors would likely complain about any noise.

I'd hate to get one and not be able to let him squawk and talk as his little heart desires. Hopefully, someday!
