Notice how the 2nd and top tier are more to the upper-left side than the top? And the little cliff(?) on the right side?
This is the wildest map I've seen and I'm so excited, I was expecting there to only be a handful of types but it looks totally randomized. Also peep the dock on the left.

Here's for comparison (made by skye in the crossing community discord):

Also, the difference in size has me wondering if it's customizable, though it could just be the way the pictures are lined up together that makes it look smaller lmao.

Thoughts? :lemon:

I love it!!! Looks like the maps will be very diverse from one another in the type of level sizes and the rivers look REALLY cool!!!

I love how the river in that new map flows down the 2nd layer and connects back to the main river that I'm guessing comes from some natural spring maybe? the only downside is it looks like it takes up the majority of that area so you'd have to pole vault around I guess? or build a staircase on the 3rd layer down to the 2nd layer to make a little secret area.... Either way I 100% love that the rivers arent always so squared and specific/are more random like you said

I'm just!!! so excited ahh!!!

OMG my app kept crashing but I made something like this because of the split river and the little bowl of water that will look so cuuute!!! Thankies for posting this Saturn〜 I'm super hyped!!! This is map is fire ⁄(⁄ ⁄ˊૢ⁄ ⌑︎ ⁄ˋૢ⁄ ⁄)⁄

There looks like a pier/dock in the bottom right of the new map. Maybe we can have a sailboat and travel to other islands that way? So we don't have to use the seaplane to get everywhere

ALSO, whyy are there no ponds on this new map? And villager houses?

I want a river that divides the island into two.
They still have those don't they?

I don't want three sections.

The one on the left doesn't have a secluded pond like the one on the right. I feel like if I'm going to pitch my tent anywhere, it'll be next to my own private fishing hole.

i think it's a good choice they've made that not every town will have ponds/lakes. some people really hated them taking up so much space in their already squished towns.

i was thinking that big spot on the new map where the river sort of makes a little pool in the top right may act as a pond (in terms of fish/bugs) for towns that don't have any ponds? but on closer inspection it actually looks like that might be a waterfall. i wonder if that means certain towns won't be able to catch pond exclusive creatures? or if there are no longer pond exclusive creatures to be caught to begin with. we've definitely gotten tastes of new bugs already.

it also kind of looks like there's a very small square of beach up north. if diving/swimming returns i wonder if that will still be accessible?

Also, what is that little sandy spot behind the rocks on top of the new map (secret separate island where you have to swim to?) and why doesn’t the other map have one?

Where the sea goes from brackish water to fresh and joins the river. I think. :)

Oh yes!! Good eye. I think there's a picture of tom nook holding a map and we can only see the top of it but it also has that sandy part. I wonder if the shops will be back there? Or kapp'n?

I think the proportions of the 2nd map are a bit skewed. The “acres” look more like rectangles, which may be why the sizes look a little different. Also might be because the 2nd map is pretty old, they may have made some changes since E3.
For example, the community center is not represented by a leaf in the new map.

Ohhhh that is an interesting map! How the waterfall begins is very interesting. I personally wouldn't take that map, but it is very interesting. I want a private beach like that though. Since we can place furniture outside that opens up some cool ideas to do with the private beach.

This map alone has literally given me so much hype for the game.

While I think this map is a bit too out there for my taste, I love that this will allow towns to be so much more unique compared to New Leaf. Also looks like we can get three tiered towns again which is awesome. Maybe it is the size of the picture itself, but the service center looks like it takes up less space which is great. The random grass jutting out into the beach looks interesting. Part of me is really thinking that map customization may actually be thing.

I might actually be able to have a river island in the northern part of town so I can have Christmas trees around my house.

Literally the only thing that I am not liking, and this was my problem with the last map too is that the rocks on the edge of the island look so awkward. I hope they look better in game.

Aww yea already can't wait to reset my map a billion times to get the perfect combination of river layout/town fruit/grass pattern I want to get hahahaha :D

I want a simple river that divides the place into two.
Not tiny areas I can't do anything with, so I hope the single river map is still a thing as that divided map is too busy.

Oh boy, don’t remind me. I remember I’d tell myself “Ok, I’ll just accept the next map I get. I need to stop being so picky”, and a bajillion more maps later I’m still resetting, lol. Luckily, I dudn’t take me very long to find a nice new leaf town.

I hope Rover became a cartographer since the last game and ask you questions about what you hope your town would look like and quickly sketches up a map. If you like it he’ll say something like “Hey, that kinda looks like the island we’re stopping at next”, if you don’t like it he’ll just sketch up a new one, to avoid having to reset the game.

Here's hoping that will be the case, it sounds very convenient. Otherwise I'll already know how the first few hours of my New Horizons experience are going to be. ^^'

I really hope that the dock has to be built in order to get access to it. I like the idea of having to do everything from scratch.

Can't wait to reset this damn thing over and over again on day one.
