You know, I've seen this happen so much on Re-tail it's starting to make me really angry.
Why the hell are hair-bow wigs so expensive? They're only Gracie items and aren't hard to get! It's ridiculous how much they go for, and I'm almost tempted to buy a ton and just give them away. that doesn't mean you can ask me to get some for you

All Gracie's items seem to be ridiculously expensive. I think it's because the majority of people who buy them don't have her shop yet and to be honest, getting it is just luck. I've had T.I.Y. for a month and haven't had a fashion check yet.

The furniture is justifiably expensive. The clothing? Not so much...

I believe that most of Gracie's items (both furniture and clothing) are seasonal, and not everyone chooses to TT - so I guess it's kind of like spending a lot of money on something you wouldn't be able to get for half a year as opposed to time traveling to December to get the Jingle set.

I'm just going by this, but it seems that the bow wig and some other popular items are not currently available in Gracie Grace, even if you do have it. Then even if you were to time travel and buy one wig, you can't just keep buying more from Nook's, either. I don't know if that justifies ridiculous prices, but I suppose I can understand where it's coming from.

Honestly it seems like the Bow Wig goes 200k~ more than other Gracie Items.

Its just like the first few weeks of the game when simple items such as persimmons were going for a boat load of bells. Its agreed that some people may not have her shop yet but maybe some people just don't want to take the time to TT and get the hair bow wig in the store yet.

Its the same as holiday items. You just have to TT to get them rather then paying millions upon millions of bells for them.

All of the Gracie Grace items are expensive, and although it sounds ridiculous her brand clothes are too! I think they've always been in all of the versions. It is rare to see her...at least, that's what I think. Of course I can't possibly see her yet since I don't have T.I.Y. But people probably make the price high because her items are hard to get, and most people (including me) haven't unlocked her.
Paying for it must be worth it, though!

Supply, demand. Not enough supply, because only people who Time Travel and have the final store are able to get them-- but a lot of demand, because people absolutely love the Hair-Bow Wig. As long as so many people are willing to pay that price, it won't go down.

Yeah, some of the prices I've seen for them are pretty silly. I even saw one person trying to use one as payment for a reasonably popular villager, which I think is over-valuing them just a tad.*wink*

If they're so expensive and you want one, I'd just wait for it. If you're just frustrated at how expensive people are making them, just shrug it off. Things are sold for stupid prices in real life too. It's just human nature for this sort of thing.

The thing is, prices are hard to control no matter how many giveaways you host. I gave two away, sold them for like 200k when everyone else did 500-600k. But I mean..there's only so much you can do. If they don't see your thread, they're guna over pay else where. That's what sucks I guess. I had the same thought as you before. The hair boy wig isn't even that nice. I used to wear one for shxts and giggles and I'm just not a fan...

As was said previously, supply and demand. I've seen so many people on here post that they're looking for a hair-bow wig, and that they're willing to pay 250k or more for one. As long as people are doing these kinds of posts, then a lot of people who do have extra hair-bow wigs will continue to sell them for inflated prices.
And again, as they're seasonal items and some people don't want to TT just to get one item, they will resort to buying them from here instead instead of TTing. In all honesty, I probably would have paid a bit more for one if I didn't already have one which my friend gave me not long after I started because I really like the hair-bow wig and I wear it pretty much constantly.

Yeah, and it really doesn't help the situation when you see threads that are all "Plz, so desperate for hairbow wig!!! Will pay anything!" So of course someone's gonna be all "ONE MEEELION BELLS, BWAHAHA!" and exploit their "desperation."

I think the bow wig is more funny than cute- they remind me of the 1960's beehive hairdos, so they're perfect for my character Hirisa, who is in love with all things retro. My mayor however, wouldn't be caught dead in one. It's all about the Kintaro wig with her.
