Everyone plays AC or games in general their own certain way. So what are some ways you play AC to make it more enveloping, fun, and rewarding? I'll keep a list of all the ways people say so that people can see how to freshen their game.

WAYS TO PLAY
  • Dress for bed, and save in bed if night and done for the day.
  • Change clothes each day.
  • Have a budget.

Now that is a really cool idea for a thread.

Some ideas I have:

- Treat every villager differently... don't be friends with every single one of them,
how about at least 1 enemy? :)
- Always remember to turn the lights off when you leave your home and vice versa.
- And something more general: try some serious Role-playing (things like: writing letters with an ACTUAL meaning to your villagers, the same goes for writing on the notice board.... etc)

I love the idea of this thread !

I thought a more in-depth cloth routine. For example you are not going to do your major duties with the same clothes you use to catch bugs or talk to villagers, I would have certain outfits for my special activities :)

Have some easy short-term goals and long term goals, so you can always have in mind where are you going with your town so it doesnt lose sense. Celebrate your long term achievements with a before/after, put a date on the calendar for it maybe the fireworks days or another in-game event so you get to feel the festive mood.

Also would be nice to change your hair once a week or something like that.

Ill post more when I get the game :3

One thing I did when I got a bed and tv set up in my house was to turn the lights off, lay down, and turn the camera until it was at the angle that id be watching the tv from (basically looking across the bed at the tv), before saving and quitting. Felt like a realistic way to end my day.

Oh and I usually have a villager or two Im not nice to, though I wont go out of my way to be mean unless I really want them to move their house.

Im interested to hear what other people do

I have different clothes for different occasions, like I have different outfits for different weathers complete with hats and accessories, and different outfits for different things like completing PWPs and events like Fireworks Night, Halloween and Christmas.
I also write letters that actually mean something, and if the people reply I reply according to what they wrote in their last letter :3
On CF I used to go to the theatre every Saturday to see a show because it was like 'Saturday night at the movies!'. It made me feel as if I actually had a social life, haha.
I set myself a daily budget as well, for example 2,000 on clothes, 5,000 on furniture/carpets/wallpapers and so on. And if I go over I have to take it off the next day
I also always donate to the museum even if something is worth loads of Bells because it makes me feel like a good citizen/mayor!

Does anyone else do stuff the same?

I do try to role-play a bit. I do like turning my lights off, and all my appliances, for that matter, because I'm convinced that there's an electric bill somewhere...

I am collecting flowers, plants, models and even forged paintings (yes, I found a way to make them actually useful) to display in my museum.

Also, this is how I plan to run my town as mayor. I plan to have a totalitarian empire where I rule and have control over everything and everyone.

I am also making my house lounge like where all I have to do is kick back and be lazy.

Translation: I usually set objectives for what I want to do when I play my game.

I really like the role-playing idea, I get into character playing as my cutie little pink obsessed mayor, when in reality I am a gothy hermit. I intend to make my next town more "me" featuring me as a hermit witch. <3! But I guess my suggestion is, don't play as you all the time. Each of my side people have personalities too!

I fill my house up with regular everyday items..I don't get alot of points from HHA. I wear pajamas at night, and sometimes I like to send threatening letters to Gloria :D

I usually do the whole lights off at a certain time and what not. As for clothes I don't really change them, but I do change accessories.

Some of these ideas are great!

I like to always go to my house when I change clothes, turn off lights when I leave, change outfits according to weather, and send letters to my villagers about things I talk to them about i.e Tammy said she was shopping for spring clothes, and I found a shirt called spring shirt so I mailed it to her haha

Seconding this advice! I don't actually RP in New Leaf, I do it elsewhere, but there must be an RP group or two within the community (and if not, you can always start one). My side characters are basically ports of D&D characters I've had, so they all have backstories and I get into character when I play as them, but when I'm on my mayor I'm just me :p

this is a really cute thread! its fun to pretend that some nights i spend the evening out with my fav/bestie villager. i dress in a cute gracie dress w/stockings and mary janes, or anything thats fancy! then you could go get a coffee, shop before the stores close, go to club lol, and end the night by gazing up at the twinkling stars.
i'm also a fan of dressing according to weather, and changing into pjs before bed! c:

I change clothes according to the weather, write meaningful letters to my villagers, and take my time hanging out in their houses. I also take off my character's shoes when entering a house (assuming they're wearing any), and turn off the lights when I leave. When I read a book, I leave my character inside their house on the sofa or something, so I might actually receive a visitor while doing something else. I have two other characters in town, a librarian and a (gym) trainer. Their personalities and hobbies are different, so the letters they write and the villagers they get along with more are different.

I don't TT or plot reset in my main town, I change outfits according to the seasons, and my long term goals are to make my house bohemian/gypsy-themed and to save up 1 million Bells without selling TBT online.
