Now this is my first fanfic ever so tell me how it is so far, I am going for a first person view, trying to show what my does, as well as what he thinks of it.

Chapter 1: keep that goron rolling

It was mourning when I awoke, I had no clue what day it was anymore, for I have been gone from any sort of schedule or routine for what feels like a month. This quest that has revealed itself to me has become much greater than I could have ever imagined.

Wait.

I think I hear something within the bushes nearby. I walk over to the bush slowly drawing my recently attained sword.

Swiftly I pushed the branches aside prepared to attack, but WAIT!!!

"AAAHHAAHHHHHHH!!!" screamed the thing in the bush.

It is only that small goron kid from their village on Death mountain.

"geez kid why did you sneak up on me like this!!" I shouted.

"well there doesn't appear to be anyway to you except through bushes!" he rebuked.

As I looked around my camp, I realized he was right. "Well ok but what are you doing out this far so early, you must have set out at night."

The tiny goron replied, " it is just tat we know you defeated that terrible monster in the cave..."

He was of course referring to the dragon that I had slain within Death Mountain. before I set out on that quest I had been given this new red fire proof clothing, and within the cave I actually found ancient magic of fire contained in an artifact, the elder had called it Din's fire I believe. He had also mentioned it was a power only those with good in their hearts could use.

"well since you defeated it the elder went into the cave to check the damage, but neither he nor his guard have returned. "

"Well that is strange, and I suppose you want me to go and discover why?"

"You are the hero spoken of in legends after all."

"Alright, you were lucky I camped so close to Death Mountain, I could have easily gotten farther on Epona.....wait....." then it hit me, where was Epona!!!" WHERE IS EPONA!!" I frantically looked around my camp then turned back to the goron.

The small goron looked around, " I have no idea...."

I felt bad right away...It must have seemed as though I was accusing him. "I'm sorry I didn't mean you did it, but now we won't be able to get there until afternoon..."

"of course," he replied,"say I got an idea, get on my back!"

"umm like this?" I stood on his back he started rolling!! I quickly moved my feet trying to balance like a bear on a ball "WOAH!!!" I screamed but he didn't slow down. I continued to run backwards as he rolled ever faster. I was having trouble balancing on this ball but he seemed to b able to sense I was falling and slow down to give me a chance to balance out. The ride seemed to be hours long and probably was.

By the time we got to his village it was only mid mourning. I couldn't believe I just did that. "Never do that again ok?"

"Well we got here faster didn't we?"

He was right it was rather effective mode of transportation but now I needed to relax a little, I was too tired to enter the cave. "Ok, but I seriously need a break"

"Sure, ust take a quick bath in the hot spring!"

Why didn't I think of that, it could heal sore muscles like nothing else. I snuck over, avoiding other gorons for now, slipped out of my tunic and entered the spring. I closed my eyes and laid far back....oohhhh that feels so good.

"Feeling better o great hero?"

Startled I leaped out of my spot. In front of me was a beautiful woman, no, not a woman, she had beautiful wings, was this a fairy?

"Please don't be startled, I am simply the great fairy of Death Mountain."

I was still stuck in aww of her beauty.

"Allow me to heal you, and I wish to give you the gift of extra magic. I understand you recently obtained Din's fire, no? As yo are now you can hardly use it, with this gift you can finally use its full potential."

What luck, a beauty giving me a gift no money can by, I tryed to speak but I could only make dots appear. "..............." Darn my stuck tongue. For some reason I picture a cat biting it.

"It is ok, you need not speak o mighty warrior. " without any further chatter I felt replenished, and then a power surged through me. " Use this power I bestow on you to help clear the land of the evil faced in these times."

Soon she disappeared, but who is right behind where she was! It was that little goron again!
"So you are the chosen hero." He said in as much aww as i felt in the presence of the fairy.

I got up and put on my tunic, " I should get started now."

We approached the cave, I had to fight a couple of tekitites living on the path. When we got to the cave I couldn't believe it, Epona was right there! I ran up, but noticed that there were foot prints leading into the cave from where Epona stood, and a little more faded was the foot prints of what must have been the goron elder and his guard.

"Who did this?"

Hm...so this is seen through Links eyes....
Well written, but you seem to have commited blasphemy by allowing Link to speak.

Good job so far. I suggest that for the future you kind of keep it away from a TP theme cause that would make it a spoiler story which is bad.

@ SL Dialog makes the world go around. Some writers prefer dialog and some don't I assume.

Chapter 2: The Shadow Within

As I entered the cave I noticed everything still appeared in place. Same river of lava flowing under a bridge in front room. I walked across the bridge and tried to think of where the elder, Darubus, would have gone off to. Almost instantaneously I remembered why they sent me in in the first place. They needed me to get rid of the dragon not only to get back to mining, but also to get to their sacred ritual room.

I decided I should head straight there, that room is actually where the dragon was waiting the first time I entered. I left the first room heading back to the ritual room. There are three rooms in between the first and where I suspect the goron leader is.

However as I entered the second room of the cave I saw the door up ahead of me close abruptly. Someone else was in the cave heading towards the same room I was. This room was a plain room, on my first time in there was a pile of rocks that had fallen because of the dragon that I needed to blow up with a bomb. I took of running across the room, opened the door, and there I saw a figure running back still across the room. It looked as though it was a shadow, but it was through the door too quick for me to get a good look at him.

This room was the source of the hot spring outside, however in here the water is still near boiling, definitely not something I could swim in. Luckily there is a path of stones you can jump across. I ran and jumped across as quick and possible, the next room is the last one before where the goron's perform their ceremonies. I dashed up and opened the door.

The next room is pitch black, I was lucky enough to have obtained Din's fire by this point, the first time through I was able to make a flame to light the room. I realized, I wasn't alone in the room, and the fact that my enemy was in black suddenly made me realized why he ran to here. I quickly got out the small red orb that gave me the fire magic, but this time something strange happened. The orb began glowing with a great intensity, I heard a loud screeching scream in the room. I couldn't see where the scream came from because my hand was burning, the orb was sinking into it. once it was in the pain stopped, but my arm began glowing with orange lines, these appeared to make a unique pattern. This amazed me but I remembered that dark being was lurking in the shadows somewhere, so I thought I should try to ake a flame just like before.

*BOOOOOM!!* I giant ball of fire shot into the darkness from, my hand, blowing a large hole in the ceiling to the room above. I guess that fairies magic was greater than I thought. I try again this time toning it down a bit. The first time I had used it it took a ton of concentration to make a small flame, now it felt like it took nothing to make a flame. I looked around the room, only in time to see the dark figure leaving the room again, he had just entered the ritual room.

I ran back and opened the door up. There just like I thought was Daribus, the goron elder, with his gurad sitting across the room by the alter, but why were they sitting. As I approached I could see they had been tied in chains and gaged, they looked up at me, but they didn't seemed relieved, in fact they seemed to be even more fearful as I got close. Suddenly I heard something behind me. I spun around unsheathing my sword ready to strike.

Too late, I got a face full of shield, I was lucky to be conscious after the blow. I immediately backed up and got my shield ready for more blows. But then I saw the attacker. "No.....It can't be!!! You were just a nightmare!!!!" I screamed at the shadow version of myself.

In my surprise I had lowered my guard. The shadow jumped raising its sword to strike. I quickly got my shield back up to block. *CLANG* It was a powerful blow, I could hardly hold it, but now it was my turn. I spun quickly slashing with my sword, he simply jumped out of the way. We began to pace around each other, neither one daring to jump at the other yet. I then saw my arm still glowing with the power of Din's fire. I concentrated hard, and the glowing lines extended into the sword I was holding. The shadow me backed off a little confused at what I was doing.

My sword burst into flames, and when I swung it at him fire shot out straight at him. A direct hit. He was a little on fire at the moment, he dropped to the ground rolling to put it out. <I had him now> I thought, but then I saw where he was rolling. He rolled so he ended right next to the door, from there he got up and ran away before I could stop him. I was going to chase after him when I remembered Daribus. I need to help him and his guard out of the chains.

I started to undue the chains. But as I did I couldn't believe I had just seen that shadow of myself again. I had seen it one other time, but that was before I had started this journey, and then it had seemed like a dream. I began to think of what had happend back then.....

Keep the dialog.
Well to be honest sometimes there will be dialog and other times not, kinda depends on whther there is someone to have dialog with or not.

Chapter 3: The Flashback

I unchained the gorons in th cave, but on our way out I explained to them where I came from and where the shadow me might have come from.

"I have always been a bit of a lost traveler. I never knew a home, for I was raised by a family of Hylians who traveled from town to town doing odd jobs. They found me orphaned by a spring or so they told me. Gramps was a superb potion maker, brought a large supply wherever we went. Gant who was like my father was a swordsman for hire. Nina, practically my mother, took care of our animals, and sold milk when we were in town.

I haven't seen them in a long time, Gant had taught me much of what he had learned by the time he was hired in Hyrule to help on a dangerous mission. He never returned from it, but the theives he was trying to kill tracked us down, they killed Gramps and Nina, but had not seen me since I had decided to sleep outside of the tent to look at the stars, I crept up grabbing one of Gants swords and took down the two who had entered the tent, I didn't realize there was a third outside, just watching what I did.

He was a large man with bright orange hair, brown skin, and some glowing symbol on his hand. When I had finished off his cronies, he started applauding me. I leaped at him with the sword but he grabbed it with the glowing hand, and broke it in two. He threw a punch at me, and the last thing I remember was my hand had started glowing, then it all goes dark.

After that night I moved to Kakario village. There I became an apprentice blacksmith, and I also taught some of the younger children some of my skills with a sword.

But recently my new home was attacked as you gorons know. Me and many others in town took up arms against these bandits and caused them to flee. But I saw that same man who had aidd in the killing of my family. I got on Epona my horse, and chased after him. I arrived at what appeared to be a dead end at the end of the canyon he had run down. I got off Epona to look around.

I saw something very strange in what was a cave entrance. There was a large mirror. I walked up to it looking it over, but suddenly it was pushed on me. I seemed to go through the mirror and behind it was that same man from before. He laughed as I started to black out seeing my glowing hand, and on the front side of the mirror I thought I had seen a silowhette of myself.

When I woke up I was in my house again, and I couldn't tell if the part with the mirror had actually happened or not. but after seeing that dark me in the cave I suppose that it had happened.

Of course after that scene I was visited by a sage in a dream telling me I was a hero and that I need to go and help out you guys on the mountain, come to think about it, it was a goron, who said he was the sage of fire."

By this time we were out of the cave.

"Well strange things have been happening all around this land," stated Daribus.

"Sir!!!" a goron called while rolling up to us, I strange figure just passed through all of our guards on the path, he was somehow able to stand his ground against us!"

"Who was this and where was he headed?" Daribus demanded.

"We don't know who it was but he appeared pitch black even in the bright noon sun! You, Hero, were lucky we were able to keep him from taking your horse! He seemed to be headed towards lake Hylia. "

"Then I know where I am headed too" I said as I mounted Epona.

I took of as fast as I could. If I am lucky I can catch him now.

Chapter 4: The Field

As I raced into Hyrue field I kept my eyes open for that shadowy impersonator. I started of at a full gallop towards lake Hylia.

Strange monsters had started appearing in the field recently, today seemed even worse than yesterday, you could see at least one in every direction. But wait... that one up ahead was facing me, and looked like a person, but the sun was directly behind him, so I couldn't see his face.

As I got closer I soon realized that it was in fact that no good shadow. I drew my sword and rode straight to him, he just stood there for some reason. "Alright you had better explain what you are", I commanded.

He just stood there and started laughing, a rather high pitched giggling actually. soon the ground beneath him became shadow, Epona reared up and started backing away from it as though it were fire, or worse....

Next thing I knew he started sinking into the shadow, actually waving good bye to me.

Though he was gone the shadow kept on growing on the field, then something started rising out of this dark portal.
"It can't be...." I gasped, but I knew that what was coming out of the shadow was a mythical monster, something used in children's tales to scare them. What came out of the hole was a queen ghoma. Only this one was strange, the portal appeared not to completely leave its skin as it came through, the result was a hideous shadow dripping ghoma.

I got off of Epona and sent her to get to safety, I needed to face this beast alone. It roared at me, and the stench that came out was of biblical proportions. No turning back now, the beast attacked with a sharp pointed leg. I jumped out of the way and cut at the leg with my sword. It barely even cut into the thick armor this insect had. Never the less, it screamed in pain. I decided to try my magic on the beast, my arm once again glowed orange tracing the lines up into my sword. I shot a fireball straight for its massive eye, but as it hit the shadow goo only a little puff of steam resulted from the impact. So that was of no use to me. What else could I use to defeat this beast!

Suddenly from the heavens I heard a trumpet sound, I looked up and saw many winged people swooping down with spears in hand. But what were they? They attacked the ghoma ferociously getting a few spears in its eye and around it, I decided to help how I could by slashing at its legs as they attacked the head, and in no time at all the ghoma was on the ground defeated and melting back into that shadowy goop that it emerged from.

The winged soldiers flew down to me, "who do you think you are taking on such a giant monster on your own?!" The one who seemed to be the leader shouted.

"Well...I was just..." I stuttered, but then he interrupted me.

"You were just what rookie? Leave beasties like that to us big boys."

"Who, no what are you guys?!" I blurted out.

"We are a group of mercenary Ritos, your king has requested we come up here to help protect against monsters like tis that have been popping up around this land. We come from the south beyond the forest out over the sea. I am Kalenor, my three partners her are Samatos, Dionos, and Clyde."

"Hey how's it going..." one spoke but was immediately cut off by Kalenor,

"Shut up Clyde!" Kalenor smacked him lightly with his wing ,"Anyway we were on our way to the castle when we spotted you fighting this beasty, How'd you do that thing with the fire anyway?"

"Umm I'd rather not get into that right now," I stated knowing that I doubt they would believe I was a magic wielding hero told of in legends.

"Fine. Keep your secrets, and we'll keep ours. See ya!" He snapped his fingers and they all took of towards the castle.

"What a strange group of bird people," I muttered as they left. I called Epona over and made sure she was alright. Everything seemed fine, and the sun was almost set by now. I decided that since I had no idea where to go now, that I might as well set up camp out here on the field under the stars.

That is when I realized that all my camping stuff was over in the small grove not to far from Death Mountain. I was just glad that wasn't too far off and headed for a good nights sleep.

More .....when I feel like it.

Chapter 5: The Bow

I awoke in the morning in the camp just as it was before. I packed my gear onto Epona and took off. Before I was interrupted by the Goron's second problem, I was off to Hyrule castle to find why all these monsters were popping up and what they planned to do about it.

When I arrived at Hyrule town, I was stunned. Absolutely no one was outside, all the doors and windows were shut and many were boarded. "What happened here..." I muttered to myself. As I walked down the street I noticed someone down the alley way. "Hey may be you could answer why..." I started to say to him, but he took off rather quickly.

I decided he wasn't worth chasing down and headed for the castle. When approached I realized the main gate was shut. Luckily the guards were there. I called up to them "What is going on here!"

One appeared startled as though he had been sleeping, and the other called back, "What are you doing out there! don't you know that we are at war and the enemy has clearly stated they were going to attack!!"

They immediately took me inside and as one of them lead me to the castle I explained where I was from and what had happened in Kakariko.

the guard appeared worried"We knew they were attacking towns around the area but we had no idea they had attacked so close to the castle before."

Suddenly before we got to the castle the was a loud horn. The guard stuttered, " They're coming I need to get back to my post!" He started running back and I followed.

"Let me help, I was able to fight some of those moblins off in Kakariko", I offered.

"Sure thing kid, let's get yo a bow and some arrows....you can use a bow and arrow can't you?"

"Well I haven't really tried much before bu I have the basic stance."

"Good enough for now, kid." We arrived back at the wall and he thrust a bow and quiver of arrows in my hand. In the distance I could see a group of about 15 moblins approaching. I strapped on the quiver immediately took and arrow out and fired.

Bulls eye! I took down the moblin leading the group. The guard just looked at me stunned. "How did you hit him that far away?!

"Ummmm... I don't know" I said as I loaded another arrow.

"Well just keep shooting kid!"

I took one more moblin down and the rest started to retreat for now.

"Great job kid!," the guard praised and then hit me hard on the back. "I am going to take you right to the king for that show you put on!"

'Sweet', I thought. "Here is the bow back" I handed it to him, but he immediatlely shoved it back in my hands.

"go ahead and keep it, we have plenty in the armory, and you look like you could make good use of it."

After waking up the other guard again we headed towards the castle....again
