Okay, so I'm new here and I've never done this before, so hello, my name is blur,
but my real name is Amber. I play mellophone in my school's marching band and I was curious to know if anyone else on this forum marched too.

I marched waayyyyyyy back in high school. Believe it or not, I was a trumpet player back then. Lol.

Marching band was great fun, but I don't think I can physically handle it anymore. =(

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I hated Marching Band, I always looked forward to concert season.

A lot of my friends hate it too. I'm used to it. What did/do you play, by the way?

I'm physically incapable until season starts lol. Based off your name I assume you switched to a woodwind instrument. How is that?

I was asked to march all the time in school... straight to the principal's office!

Woodwinds are difficult. Especially double reeds. Don't ever curse yourself like I did. Then again, if you play the mellophone, that just might mean you play horn during concert season, and that's the brass equivalent of a double reed in terms of frustration and difficulty to control.

I love the oboe, but I can't make or even work with my own reeds, and I'm at a college where I'm pretty much completely on my own. The only oboe player. I had a reed break on me mid-performance and I didn't have any others that worked line up at that moment.

*sigh* I miss the days of brass mouthpieces. Those things are so simple. OMG.

Hopefully this summer I will learn about reeds.
