So today, Marina the normal octopus is moving out, and is currently packed in boxes:
This was a hard decision for me to make (in fact, this was the hardest villager yet for me to let go). She's been in my town since she appeared in my campsite in late 2013, and of course I was happy to invite her to my town. Since she's been here for more than a year now, she's felt like a staple of my town. Also, not only is Marina the only female octopus in the entire game, but she's normal, which is my favorite personality.
However, I already have three other normal villagers besides her, which leaves little room for other personalities. It doesn't help that this game has a limit of 10 villagers, as opposed to the 15 in the original GameCube game... otherwise I'd hold on to her for longer. She's also pinged me several times to move out over the past few months, so I had to ler her go at some point to make her happy. And finally, I know that she's a really popular villager, so I want to let someone else have her. Having said that... I will miss her nonetheless.
So, I am auctioning her off to someone who really wants her. She is NOT original, as her furniture arrangement is different from what it originally was (compare her original layout with this one from yesterday). Her shirt is also different, as you can see in the first photo -- however, I can give a bubble-gum shirt (her original clothing) to the winner for free if you want it. Fortunately, her original "blurp" catchphrase is still there, as I don't like messing with villagers' catchphrases.
The auction starts now and ends at 10:30 PM Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8). Therefore, it lasts roughly 5 hours. (Though, it will end early on an instant buyout -- more on that later). Once the auction is over, the winner can pick up Marina from 10:30 PM to 12:00 AM Pacific Time, or I can hold onto her for most of Sunday.
Starting bid: 800,000 bells
Minimum increase: 50,000 bells
Instant buyout: 12 million bells
By bidding on this auction, you agree that you will be able to buy her if you win. This means that you cannot back out of this auction. If you are not sure if you are able to make the purchase (such as if you have 10 villagers already, don't have enough money, Marina is already in your 16-villager void, or you lack the free time), please don't bid. I've seen this happen before in a past auction and it was frustrating.
Also, if you see any furniture lying around in my town, please don't touch it. I know that my town is a mess right now, but please don't take items that you see in my town. Thanks!
Finally... happy bidding!
The auction is now closed and Navi is the winner. Congratulations, Navi! Marina has now moved to his town.
