Mario 64 VS Sunshine

I played both of these recently and I want to hear YOUR opinion.

Do you prefer Mario 64 or Sunshine? I personally think both are great games, but Mario 64 has the edge.

Also no answering "Galaxy" because everyone knows galaxy is better than both of them

Super Mario Sunshine would be the game I prefer. SM64 has aged poorly, and Super Mario Galaxy was a real disappointment in terms of gameplay.

Super Mario Galaxy was a real disappointment in terms of gameplay.

I still want a SMG3 tho.

Sunshine will always have a special place in my heart. Super Mario Galaxy beats them all, though, in my opinion.

While I enjoy Super Mario 64, I also enjoy Super Mario Sunshine and I actually completed that game. I never beat 64, and I've never played Galaxy, so the winner is Sunshine for me.

I much prefer Super Mario Sunshine. The controls are much smoother and there are more interesting mechanics that are enjoyable. A lot of people immediately dismiss Sunshine as being a crappy game due to F.L.U.D.D., but I think it adds a new layer of uniqueness that we haven't really seen since in a Mario game. Don't get me wrong, I like Mario 64, but I don't really like the controls, graphics, or level design nearly as much as Sunshine. That's my opinion anyways.

Also Super Mario Galaxy isn't really all that great, in my opinion.

Super Mario 64. It has more levels and, most importantly, more diverse levels. The whole tropical island-theme in Sunshine gets boring after a while since everything's pretty much the same. Sunshine gets a few points for Fludd and some of the special stages, but the blue coins and the horrific character designs outweighs the positives. Both are pretty good games overall though.

sunshine. i loved it so much when i played it as a kid. the maps are interesting and fun, the enemies are nice, i love the water backpack thing and yyyh it is Cool

I suppose i'll throw in my opinion.

Sunshine is a great game, but it has some really bad level design at points. The pachinko level, which is outright rigged, Yoshi and the Toxic Flume which you have to use yoshi's awkward controls just to get there and then deal with the level, and several blue coin locations that without a guide no human would ever find.

Mario 64 has some bad design, but I feel in general it feels more fair and also more grand. Mario 64 had some levels with reused designed, but sunshine does feel dry at points.

Have some other points, but cannot be bothered writing them right now.

Personally I find Sunshine more fun to play. 64 is great though, and is rightfully remembered as an crucial piece of gaming history.

And imo, SMG isn't that great. It's good and I liked it, but it's definitely not better than 64 or Sunshine in my eyes.

I've actually never played Sunshine or a lot of other gamecube games cause my bro would hog the gamecube when we were little. As for Mario 64, I prefer the DS release over the origional

have tons of good memories of both (and still replay both from time to time, although to this day I haven't finished either LOL I get as far as the last level and then just don't finish idk I'll do it someday) but Sunshine wins out for me, all the water environments are just relaxing to play though honestly lol especially Hotel Delfino

I'd prefer Super Mario Sunshine because of F.L.U.D.D., I really liked cleaning the island, it was very original. And of course Super Mario Sunshine aged better. I also saw people talking about the polish in both games but tbh both Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine are buggy af cx

Same, it isn't a bad game by any means but I enjoyed playing Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine a little bit more.

Sunshine is the best game ever! I looooooooooooooooove that game to dead, I have 100% it so many times!

Plus which other game let's you clean a fish's teeth as part of a mission?!

super mario 64 for me. it's always had a special place in my heart, playing it with my dad when i was a wee lad. i also enjoy sunshine a lot! but not to the extent of 64.

super mario 64 for ds . I love that game . The soundtrack is amazing , the variety of levels ...
It will always have a special place in my heart . Sunshine is good , but AS GOOD as 64.

You couldn't be more the opposite of me xD In my personal preference: mario sunshine > mario 64 > galaxy

It terms of objective thinking and game design/story/etc it would be galaxy > 64 > sunshine

I love sunshine for it's hub world, I don't know why but I love hub worlds.

They are very different games, so it's kinda hard to compare them to me... Overall, I think I prefer Sunshine.

Also, the Galaxy games are very overrated.
