I put tell a friend and no one else. I'd like to get professional help, since I am actually quite mentally ill, but unfortunately, mental health services aren't always very accessible. I have trouble with schedules due to my exhaustion and anxiety problems, but most services I know have a pretty strict schedule, and the therapist I was able to get was inattentive, made plenty of assumptions about me without even asking, and once even flat-out ignored me when I said that I thought I may have a serious condition (like, didn't even say anything back when I said that). And while money wasn't an issue for me because there are free services in my area, it definitely is an issue for many people. We definitely need to work on mental health services being more accessible to all sorts of people.

You're right we do need to work on the services- I know not many people know what to do if it happened to them. I know I didnt. That is ridiculous! You should have reported them! That is atrocious and it infuriates me when people cant do their job right- like why be that then if you cant follow the skills it takes!

My counselor is only available on fridays and her colleague on thursdays so its quite hard to fit my schedule around that especially when i have college and work on thursdays and fridays etc and i know theres waiting lists etc. I only went to the doctor when i eventually realized how deep in the cave I was- before that I suffered alone and then i confided in a friend and hearing it from them struck a cord in me

This is difficult to answer because I believe many people who have never had a mental illness would say that they'd go to their doctor if they had one. However, for people who have/do have mental illnesses, it is never that simple. I've had depression since I was thirteen (diagnosed at fourteen) yet I was so ashamed of myself that I didn't want to talk to a doctor, a friend, or anyone at all really. People without mental illnesses wonder why we 'choose' to suffer in silence, and yet get angry at us when any of our symptoms that aren't 'tragically beautiful' begin to surface.

I completely agree which is an argument of mine in my report. Majority (if not all) who haven't suffered with a mental health illness will say go to the doctor. And its so easy to guess what we think we might do in a circumstance when a lot of the time its the opposite. I never confided in anyone until my darkest days when a friend finally saw what was going on and basically through a mirror up at me- I didn't like the reflection and knew it wasn't normal so I finally confided into a doctor and then my dad

I also think it also helps when you have support from people. My family (except my dad and brothers) tends to leave me to it by myself which I don't agree with and wouldn't do that if it was one of them
