I’ve used Meteonook for a long time and it’s always been accurate for me, but today I spent some time finding the seed for my new island and while the star times, rainbows, rain is always correct, every time it says I should have special cumulonimbus clouds they don’t appear. Anyone else have this problem? Did the recent update remove special clouds for some reason? :S

Can you do some more testing to see if the seed you found is correct? One thing to keep in mind is any day a new player is added to the island, which I believe includes the island rep, the island will have an irregular weather pattern until the next day. So if you started looking for your weather seed using info from the first day, you almost certainly have the wrong seed.

Since Ninji (MeteoNook founder) has retired, it's unknown though when or if new updates are adjusting the special cloud patterns.

EDIT: Also, during the month of August, do not track anything for Sundays. These days will have an irregular weather pattern due to fireworks.

General guidelines:
Never track the weather for
  • a holiday
  • a Sunday in august
  • any day you add a new player to the island
  • any day there's a fishing/bug competition
  • any time greater than the first 10 minutes of the hour TBCH

I had been using a seed that was similar for a long time so I thought it was right but eventually not everything added up so I tried for like an hour and eventually got a seed that works perfectly. You might just need to refind your seed.

Super late to this because I was too ill to play for a few days. I started over and only used data from 2 meteor showers and a double rainbow I found and it gave me the same seed. After the new update today the seed is now showing the correct clouds for the seasons, so I think the problem was with Nintendo and not with the seed.

The recent patch notes say they fixed some issues with clouds. This may or may not have interfered with seed searching in v1.11.0
