So to my delight I find Celeste on my island tonight, so I found a spot with a clear view and have been staring at the sky for 30 minutes with no shooting stars!! Has anyone had this problem? How long before a star appears?

i’m having the same issue! i currently have celeste on my island and no shooting star in sight - with my luck, it’ll happen once i turn the game off for the night lmao

It's pretty rare. I had her tonight for the first time as well and at first I thought something was bugged, but they don't show up pretty often. I read somewhere that someone saw 10 in 2 hours. Personally I was lucky enough to see 3 at once and then I stopped looking at the sky 24/7... but I didn't notice anymore after that.

Edit: I also didn't get a phone call for her first appearance, that's why I thought it was a bug.

I read somewhere online that Isabelle will say in the announcements that morning (or whenever you first get on the game) that there will be a meteor shower that night

ugh thanks for the responses!! i didn’t realize it would be so rare, i will just have to keep trying!! :(

Is 10 in 2 hours a lot? I knocked out the achievement for 200 wishes the first evening Celeste came by

Did you by chance have visitors while this was going on? I went to one of my friends' islands while they had one and a shooting star came every couple of seconds lol, so I'm wondering if the amount of people in an island at once affects the amount of shooting stars?

Also, I have gotten 23 in the past two or so hours, however I have missed a couple of them lol. Rn, they seem to come in clusters of about 3-5 every 5-15 minutes or so for me :p

From what I can tell, it's also a lot more frequent if you're walking around doing stuff! If I stand and look at the sky in one spot for a long while, I barely get any but when I'm walking around the island I get a ton!

What I like doing is standing still looking up and just listening for the sound! then just pressing (A) every time I hear it (you might be missing them if only looking visually)

I visited an island that was having a meteor shower...I saw 37 in less than 5 minutes. Meanwhile, when Celeste was in my town, I saw 1.

From my experience, I think there's a difference between shooting stars and a meteor shower -- just because Celeste is around doesn't mean it will be a full on meteor shower. :(
Shooting stars can happen sporadically on clear nights without an announcement from Isabelle, but a meteor shower would be a proper event that would be announced. When Celeste first appeared for me I waited 3 and a half hours for my first shooting star.

I had a meteor shower today and no Celeste, but she shows up afterwards anyway
Basically even if Celeste shows up it doesn’t mean it’s gonna be a shower.
However mine wasn’t announced in the morning either but my villagers wouldn’t shut up about it. I got my 200 in about 2 hours.

This... I got over 180 wishes when I visited a town with a proper shower and heard three during one night (missed them all) when Celeste was visiting my town.

And I had some visitors over, so that doesn't increase chances.

Celeste showed up and so did the meteor shower, almost got to 200 for the achievement because there were a lot of stars but I never got an announcement in the morning
