Hello friends!!

Something just crossed my mind that I’m curious about -
After you’ve already built all 10 plots and gotten villagers into all of them, what’s the max number of empty plots you can have at once? Can only one of your villagers move out at a time or is it possible to have multiple empty plots?

I’m assuming that you are limited to just one since the plot fills automatically if you don’t invite someone to your island, but it would be kinda cool if you could have more. I actually really like villager hunting, and honestly I’m not too fond of quite a few of mine at the moment, so I just think it would be kind of cool to replace a couple of them at a time😅

Also it would be REALLY nice if there was an option to turn off the automatic move-ins. Hunting for a villager can be super time consuming and like.........I have to work for a living lol. As much as I would love to play 24/7, I don’t always have the time to fill a plot before it happens automatically, which gets annoying at times.

Anyways if you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading about my random thought for the day lol.

You can only have just one at a time, I'm afraid. MAYBE if you timed an Amiibo move-in just right you could manage two, but the Amiibo one would already be "sold" so it wouldn't really count.

And while I agree automatic move-ins are frustrating, I'm still so used to previous AC games that having ANY say over villagers who move in feels like a miracle to me, lol. Unless you had an internet connection or a friend who played, you used to have no say whatsoever, and even if you did it was limited to villagers other people had. The current system can still lead to frustration, sure, but it's an improvement. If you're okay with TTing, and do it right, you can TT to stay on the same "day" so no one moves in. I once kept it like that for a full weekend of villager hunting, lol

And, TBH, the current system already feels like a compromise on Nintendo's part to me. I've always felt that Nintendo intended for the random aspect of who moves in and who doesn't (similar to RL, I guess- I know I don't have any say in who moves into my neighborhood). I feel like they added this extra feature to give people a little bit of influence, but I don't imagine they'd give us an option to turn off random move ins entirely.

I think the minimum number of empty plots you can have is one. An empty plot that is marked as sold wouldn’t count as an empty plot since you would have a villager moving in the following day. It would be nice if you could have less than ten villagers! I spent more time than I’d like to admit with only five plots. I was oblivious to the fact that you could build more plots. My dumb self even had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out that you could build more plots. I time traveled weeks and was wondering why nobody was moving to my island. I thought nobody liked it. 😅

I'm curious about this, too! Back in November/December, I had Judy move out and was determined to get a random move-in. It took nineteen days for Tipper to buy the plot, by which time villagers had already started asking to leave once again. When I let Victoria go, the day she was in boxes was the day Tipper bought the plot, so I never had two empty plots at once (I was one day away from being down to eight villagers!), but I wonder if I had let one of the previous villagers who asked move instead if Tipper would still have taken 19 days (resulting in me briefly having two empty plots) or if having a villager in boxes guarantees that the plot would be filled that day to prevent that from happening.

Omg I would’ve been so depressed if I hadn’t known and thought nobody wanted to come to my island!!😂

Oh wow! Yeah I feel like the second villager moving out probably triggered it, but that does seem like a long time for a plot to be filled

Yah, I'm guessing the game scrambled when you were gonna move someone out, lol.

And I've heard the random move-ins can be affected by how often you communicate with other players, because of how the "void" system works (someone might have an explanation, but I don't- it's too long and complicated for me, lol). If you communicate a lot (or have recently), I've heard they tend to fill up fast. And vice versa. IDK if that is or was accurate, though. Just something I heard!
