Hoping someone can give me the full lowdown of the Fall/Halloween season and updates as I missed all of last years events. Do you have any particular favorite things ACNH has done that ACNL didn't do or could not perform? Should I be on the lookout for clothing/items that I might have missed? Anything new in the current update that you are excited for?

I heard there are white pumpkins? Excited for that!

Thank you in advance!

On October 1 you should get a Jacks portrait in the mail. All throughout October, some villagers will be crafting the Halloween DIY items. All of them either require pumpkins or candy. The candy is available at Nooks but only once a day. The pumpkins you can get from Leif or Nooks. They grow in 4 colours: orange, yellow, green and white. The yellow, green and white are for customisations. I won't spoil Halloween itself though. Compared to NL, I prefer NL better. The DIY hunt sort of ruins the whole thing. It feels more like a seasonal task in NH. I do like a certain costume that you can only get on Halloween though.

Thank you for your detailed reply :)

I understand about the DIY hunt.. grinding Sakura/Easter Season was a seasonal task that burned me out.

Looking forward to all the pretty colors and variations you explained :)

In real life, autumn is my favorite season. Where I live, we actually have a lot of trees that change color as the temperatures get colder. Everything is just so pretty, and I absolutely love everything fall decor. So it's the same on the islands for me. I love putting out stuff that looks very autumn. Leaf piles, scarecrows, hay bale beds. You can even put some of the Spooky DIY stuff out early and just turn them around so you don't see the jack-o-lantern faces (and turn them off so there's no glowing light from them).

To be honest, I didn't mind the DIY hunt for Halloween. It has actually been my absolute favorite celebration on the island for me thus far. That could be because Halloween is also my favorite holiday in real life too, but... I dunno, I just really loved the entire time. Even typing this and thinking about it, I have the Halloween tune going in my head! Love love love it!!!

With all of that said, I think New Leaf's Halloween event was really good too. They're different, and I think this year I might actually try to do both... although I haven't played New Leaf in almost a year at this point. I just love New Horizons so much!

Beyond Halloween DIY, your island will also have a few more seasonal ones as well— Tree’s Bounty (already started in NH, and includes the acorns and pinecones you get from shaking trees), mushroom season and maple season. These sets gradually come online as we progress further into fall. Many players find these are the best sets in the game for natural decor. Again, you will have to balloon hunt for the DIYs, but it is well worth it.

The “final” fall holiday is Turkey Day. It may change up a little this year, but if not, I do recommend having some grown pumpkins in stock ahead of this event in order to quickly participate. Turkey Day is fun and a little different than other holidays, and also had some great DIY rewards.
