First time smudging using PS.
Hey Money Hunter, I like your drawings. You have a nice, simple and clean style. My favorite of yours is definitely your sketch of Slammint's OC!
Unfortunately I can't offer much C+C on this, since I'm not that experienced when it comes to drawing animals and people, but I am able to give you some critique for your graphics! :-]
First off, I'd like to ask what program you use, because your first smudging attempt is really quite good.
PS does have a better smudge tool than GIMP, so if you're using GIMP it will be tricky to get good with smudging. Don't worry, though; smudging seems hard and it will be at first, but that'll change once you get more used to it.
Anyways, back to the banner- it looks like you smudged the background and/or a copy of Kirito, correct? It's great to do this when you want the render to blend in, but I'd suggest that you also try out smudging to create flow! To do this form of smudging, make sure you add a new layer (this is important!). Then take a hard circle brush (set to a low size, like something around 15px-30px), make sure the color is set to what you want your smudging color to be, and draw a line on your canvas. After a few lines are drawn, you can then start smudging them, and this will add more flow to the overall piece. Make sure you change the smudge settings first, though; this applies to both GIMP and PS. You should also experiment to see what you like, in terms of strength, rate, jitter and etc. Or you could search 'GIMP smudge settings' or 'PS smudge settings' on websites like deviantART if you want to see what settings people like using :-]
So yeah, to show what I'm talking about when I say "smudging to create flow", I took your Kirito banner and then added some smudge lines to it.
(I do not intend to steal your artwork. I only copied and pasted the banner into Photoshop and added some stuff to it purely for demonstration purposes.)
Here is the banner with just lines on it (I used a 25px hard brush, white)-

This is a pretty messy job, to be completely honest, but I hope this gets my point across! I did this in Photoshop, by the way, so if you use the same program I can share the smudge settings I used with you :-]
Anyways, that aside, I love what you do with text! It's always so interesting, and I especially like it in this. It's pretty rare to see someone so good at text in general, but you totally are haha. I'll definitely be watching for more stuff from you! Ah, and I hope you found this post helpful; it's pretty lengthy so if anything is confusing you're welcome to ask/contact me about it. Keep up the good work c:

Aaah!! So that's what they meant by 'smudge by the flow'!! Thank you so, so much, this was very helpful :3
I do use GIMP, I tried photoshop but it doesn't seem to have an undo history?? I found that pretty tough to work with :c
Haha yeah, I was pretty amazed when I first learned about it too! No problem ;-]
Also, I know what you mean. Photoshop's undo function (the Ctrl+Z one) only gets rid of the latest change you made. To keep undoing things that you've done, you'll have to use Step Backward (Alt+Ctrl+Z or go to Edit > Step Backward). It took me a while to figure this out, and it is a bit tedious to have two undo options, but I got used to it. Would you try out Photoshop again now that you know you can undo as much as you want with Step Backward? :-]
Omg, Money Hunter! i haven't seen you since I went on hiatus way too long ago..Your art is so beautiful nowI'm proud of you! (This sounds weird, sorry)
