Are there any park equipment you had fond memories of?
Or park equipment you currently enjoy?
Any equipment you had/have a fear of?

As a kid, I really liked these animal seats that had a spring. One of my favorites was a cute fat green frog. There also use to be a small merry go round with horses you sit on.
I also liked this gazebo thing that was a double glider swing?? All of these things are long gone and were already old when I was a kid.

I absolutely loved merry go rounds as a kid! I could never get anyone to spin me because I wanted it for so long lol. My great grandparents had a small merry go round that had animals in their backyard that I always loved. I also really liked (and still like!) swings.

The swings were my favorite! I used to play on them all the time in elementary school. Something about them just made my brain really really happy. It made me feel more creative too. I would daydream about my imaginary friends and think about my hyperfixations (which at the time were tennis, bowling and yo gabba gabba). My friend and I would swing together and she would sing songs or pretend we were on different roller coasters. I loved swinging with my friend next door too. Speaking of bowling, they also had this activity panel? I think it’s called something like that, a vertical board with a bowling ball attached with one screw that you could rotate and knock over a row of pins, so naturally I really loved that. It was right by the swingset too so I could look at it whenever I was swinging.

I was afraid of most of the stuff as a little kid, but played on everything by the time I was in 4th grade. Well, at least at school. There was one playground I occasionally went to with a suuuuuper tall pair of slides. I climbed all the way up the tower but never got the guts to go through with it. My fears got worse when I saw one of the slides had a barrier at the bottom, a cork circle blocking anyone from climbing in it. My dumb irrational child brain was afraid they didn’t put a barrier at the top and my imagination was running wild, I started imagining that nobody could hear me scream and having to hack my way out of there with a knife and getting on the news XD

There was a particular playground in my home town called Dennis the Menace park. Everything to play on was particularly deadly for one reason or another.

But, ohhh... was it fun! There was even one thing where several of us kids would get on, and push ourselves off and rotate around (we called it the helicopter). The thing is, if it didn't rotate back around to the platform, we were stuck really high up! So it turned into kids screaming for their parents, or we had to jump off and hurt our ankles 😆

Kids playgrounds were different back then 🤣

P.S.

Found a picture of the "helicopter" rotating thing of death. Keep in mind the kids at the end were supposed to reconnect with the platform to get off. That rarely happened 🤣 (this picture is taken from the platform... Chances are those kids didn't come home without sprained ankles!)

I love playground equipment! In my garden I have two basket swings we bought a good few months ago, as well as regular swing seats (unfortunately I'm too big to go on them without my hips and that general area being squished). We also had a slide, but it got broken very badly in a recent storm. In playgrounds themselves, while I don't go to them at all anymore, but I always loved the climbing wall. Never any good at it, but really fun nonetheless.

maybe i have just forgotten but i can’t recall enjoying parks as much as other children just because i was a such a little homebody 😭

but when i was very young i remember my father taking my brother and i to a park that was sort of far away from our house, i can’t remember any of the equipment there other than the slides but i do vividly remember playing on the tire swing which was my favorite.

my grandma also used to take us to a nearby park and they had little plastic houses there which i loved but the park had to take them out because apparently adults would come in the evening and deal drugs in them, to other adults of course.

I would say my favorite park equipment are the swings and the merry-go-round! As a kid, the swings made me feel like I was flying, and I loved being spun really fast on the merry-go-round until I’m dizzy and almost fall off
