Moving Buildings?

Does anyone know how this works? I'm debating moving some buildings just a few squares left or right, and I want to know if that's even how it works in the game. Do I have to completely up and move something somewhere else in the town and then move it back the next day?

If it's just a few squares, you may have to move it somewhere else completely, and then move it back the next day. When you move something, it throws down a plot like it does when you are inviting new villagers. I don't know how many squares you are planning on moving the building, but if it will overlap with the original location, I doubt it would work because there would be nowhere to place the new plot. Hope that makes sense!
