I finally got a chance to throw in a decent 3 or so hours into the Virtual Console yesterday, and I started off with a healthy serving of Shinobi III. Though the in-game music was good, I turned down the volume in favor of an Astor Piazzolla tune, Libertango. And, believe it or not...

The Piazzolla tune fit the game better than the actual in-game music.

Of course, some games are better with their own in-game music, like ActRaiser (though I can't help but turn on the MP3s of the orchestral arrangements whenever I play the game), but there are some games where I just turn down the volume and start listening to some of my own stuff.

Or how about Bonk 3? I decided I'd try some flamenco stuff, so I tried a bit Gerardo Nunez, and then later Tomatito. A brilliant fit... who knew?

So... any of you guys listen to your own music while playing VC/classic games? If so, what games/what music?

Well, I've never done this before....ever. I don't know why, I just haven't. I may try this though, because there are many a song/soundtrack that I think would fit some gameplay, but have never tried it out. Thanks for the cool idea Bul.

I do it all the time.

GOOD Rock + Sonic
Trance + Metroid
Rock or my few Hip Hop songs that I like + Need for Speed

I listen to my iPod when I get bored when playing games.

Well, I'm a metalhead. So usually some form of metal. I guess my favorites are Himsa and The Agony Scene. I think the stuff is too angry for most people.

I've found that a nice Toby Keith or Phil Vassar song goes good with LoZ:TP.
