my boyfriend is getting acnh! how can i surprise him?

new horizons is going to be his first animal crossing game! he’s looking forward to the landscaping and customization parts, and i really want him to have a fun first few days and surprise him with some things maybe like burying items he’d like around his island the first time i visit? and stuff like bells or cute clothes or seasonal items too! (of course, i won’t give him so many things that he won’t have fun trying to work towards things on his own—just some small gifts!)

if anyone can think of more ideas, i’d super appreciate it! thank you so much for reading <3

Unfortunately, recipes can't be buried. However, you could hide them behind trees or rocks. If your boyfriend likes surprises, maybe you can bury some pitfall seeds as well. Don't forget to give him a ladder and vault. I missed having those tools when I finally got my own island.

Oh I just had a great idea!
If he makes a character on your island, and then grinds out to unlock terraforming tools, if he does a character transfer, he can do that on day 1.

Maybe it's not the right way to play the first time around, I don't know. But if you don't let his character catch any fish or bugs, his character will be a completely clean slate on the new island, only with the ability to move cliffs so things can be put down in prettier locations

if you Really want to surprise him give him things that arent normal to the game, like the *my personal fav* marketplace decorations or the kerokerokoppi lanterns, or *if you dont have online* some of the celeste items like the fragments.

You can try making him some custom designs based on his likes. Designs like that are not something he'd normally get, so either you creating them or looking around on the kiosk and downloading them for him would be a great gift (as in writing down the code and telling him when you visit).

I also support the ideas of burying some hard-to-get items like Sanrio or Pocket Camp stuff on a field of pitfall seeds. Items that just went away like Cherry Blossom or seasonal Nook Shopping items can also be a good gift, as he'd have to wait almost a whole year to get them on his own.

Aww, that's fun! Of course, you know him better than us, so maybe some things to cater to his hobbies? Like, a guitar if he plays guitar, or a football if he's a sports fan. And maybe some personal things- like a zodiac furniture item that represents each of your signs? Of course, bells are also great when you're first starting, and clothes he likes would be great! Heck, you could even design him something that resembles a favorite shirt in real life and hang it in his Ables shop the first time you visit (bonus points if he doesn't notice it until his villagers start wearing it, lol) And if you guys have any inside jokes, that'd be fun to try and find some items to fit them!

Of course, if you REALLY want to go all out, you could try doing a scavenger hunt- hide the items, then write clues on his bulletin board. I bet that'd be super fun! And I also agree- pitfalls could be a fun extra challenge Plus, if you fall in one, you automatically unlock the DIY- so it wouldn't be TOO mean, it'd be helpful! ...Kind of

You could always do like a welcome gift thing and wrap up some tools, materials, clothes he would like. You could also have like a treasure hunt mini game kinda thing! You could also help him with his fruits! I hope you guys have fun!! so cute

Here's what you do: set up a wedding set just outside the airport. Invite him to your island. Set the wedding dress and veil as one of your wand outfits. When he arrives and exits the airport, do a quick change into your wedding gear in front of him. If he runs away, don't worry. He's just overwhelmed by joy.

Just donate him some of the resources like rocks, the 3 types of wood, weeds, iron, and so forth. That way when Nook asks for them to make bridges and the such, he'll have a head start. That way he can get to terraforming faster. Also help him with some bells if you want to.

He's excited to terraform, so anything to help him get there would excite him the most probably. Hook him up with some good sturdy tools so he doesn't have to wait around forever for the diy. Or buy one of the tool diy sets for him.

When my boy bought it, I made a kinda treasure hunt for him. By burying items all around his island. It was pretty fun, he enjoyed it

I gave him items I thought he would like, along with a fantasy dress because he bought a gas mask when I left him with my game to do a snack run

But he proudly wears it, bow and all. Then gave him tickets for hunting, and spent awhile hunting down villagers, which was fun. He wants the rabbits.

So jealous that he started with Genji lol Now we both have Genji. Anyway, hyst small ideas that I enjoyed doing ^^
