Here's something I did for a friend:

Anyone got any tips for me? Mostly with shading and lining.

How to make things transparent (like what you draw):

Get a new layer
Put it at the bottom
Fill it with a dark color
Make the layer invisible
Save

How to shade:
New layer
Set mode to 'multiply'

How to line:
New layer on top.

gamzeeeee this is so pretty ;-;
for shading, it's hard to give advice because it's more of knowing where your light source is coming from and placing shadows and that's the only major thing I see lacking here! (besides some anatomy but you didnt ask about that!)
I would look up lighting tutorials for that! ;; They will help you more than I can haha
otherwise everything looks really great and stylized to me <3

p.s. your art shouldnt look like this when it's done ;^)

Not an artist myself, but this looks incredible and good luck getting tips : )

i'd suggest using a pen brush for inking line instead of a pencil because it looks chakly and messy. unless this was the style you're going for.

It's actually a pen brush, just with different settings(pen pressure). It's messy because it's a sketch ofc but the cartoony style is indeed what I'm going for.

I do need tips for anatomy. I like exaggeration.

here's a guide I had made for Bunny Bento a little while back

you can mess around with the bluish gray colour. you also can get a sunset-y feel or a night time feel in your shading by changing the colour.

your art is coming along nicely, and I'd say just keep on drawing. soon you'll get a better feel in sai and you'll know all the things like the back of your hand.

Yep.

Luminosity is the same, but its for lighting.

(thanks btw)

Well the thing with anatomy is you just gotta look, sketch, and learn! The best thing though is if you can't find a pose to reference, you can always take a picture of yourself doing said pose and then reference from there. It's something that can't really be explained in my view. Sorry if that wasn't helpful, just putting in my two cents.

And remember, don't give up. You might not get it on the first try!! That doesn't mean you'll never be able to accomplish whatever you're drawing! Believe me, I did a recent redraw and it was like WOAH I FINALLY DID THE THING xD

Thank you guys for the advice!
Here's a few more pieces I did for friend:

I'm still confused with transparency

Those are really cute >B)

Have you tried saving as a png? If you have the same version as I do, it'll give you two options. If you hit the second one, you should get a transparent background.

I have, I'm not sure if I have that option but I'll be sure to check orz
And thank you! I'm still getting a jiff in anatomy and figuring out what style I like.
