Hello, fellow TBT'ers! Today, I am presenting to you a new challenge that I've come up with: the ACNL Kiddie Challenge! This is a personal challenge, so it really only appeals to me. In this challenge, I'm going to play through Animal Crossing: New Leaf just like I did when I originally got the game when I was like 10. Here are the guidelines for this town:
-I am not allowed to get ANY outside help from you guys, unless it is visiting towns for my train station upgrade or getting fruit for a villager. I played this game long before I joined TBT. This means that I have to get everything myself. I have to use what the game offers me. For example, I have to decorate my house using ONLY furniture that Timmy and Tommy offer. If it isn't the full set, I have to deal with it.
-I can't use any QR codes. I didn't even know that Sable existed as a kid. If I want patterns for paths or so, I have to design them myself.
-For villagers, I have to deal with what I have. Even if I get a villager I can't stand, I have to deal with them. Also, when I get my first 9, I get to choose ONE villager that I keep in the town. The rest HAVE to move when asked. I cannot talk to them and convince them to stay, they have to change their minds themselves. The permanent villager cannot be changed, so if Octavian moves in and Gladys is my permanent villager, I'm stuck with Gladys.
-No Bell-farming on the island. I have to make my income through fishing as I didn't have a wetsuit as a kid! The island isn't banned, I just can't destroy it in hopes of farming beetles. Though, I may sell my previous town, so this may not be a huge issue. However, if I do sell my town, I have to sell my catalogue as well.

This is the basic outline of the challenge! If anyone has town names or suggestions, please tell me! I'll be starting in about an hour! This town will be regularly updated in a thread here.

Sounds like you got a solid challenge cut out for you my friend and it sounds like a lot of fun! :D If I had a extra copy, I probably would do something similar rule-wise to replay the game again (the fun of starting fresh again) before AC Switch came out, but I have to spend my money elsewhere at the moment. lol

this seems like a really fun idea!!
i'm not very good with town names or anything so i'm just replying to support the challenge lol
i'll definitely be coming back to this thread to read updates!

Looks awesome!! Reminds me of when I was 10 and playing Wild World for the first time :)
I'd rename my town to what I named it the first time (in my case: Chiptown, lmao) or something that I really liked when I was younger
This actually really is tempting me to replay WW again, in a similar style to your challenge, but I don't think I could stick with it for longer than a week :p

This sounds like an interesting idea. By the way, I don't think you will have to visit towns to get fruit for a villager. Sure, you might disappoint them the first few times, but it's actually fairly easy to get fruit without going to other towns in this game. In fact, in Fireleaf I already have pears, cherries, and oranges along with my native apple, and that town has only existed for about a week.

As for name suggestions, I agree with lowaltitude's suggestion of a name you would have picked when you were younger. It seems like it would go best with your theme here. Anyway, good luck in your new town!

The challenge has officially started! I'm mayor koopasta of Johto! As a kid, I always chose the first map I saw, so my map is absolutely horrible. I always made the face random, and I ended up with the Lenny face character. My native fruit is oranges, which is a nice break compared to pears. My villagers are... yikes. I have Coach, Simon, Tammi, Poppy, and Friga. Coach and Poppy I like, Friga I've never had, Simon I don't care for... but I DESPISE TAMMI. She literally ruined one of my older towns by refusing to move. Needless to say she's not going to be my permanent villager.

That's a unique challenge (at least I never read something like this one before) that also sounds
like lots of fun! Very nice as well as interesting ideas. Kinda reminds me of myself back then when
I was younger and played for the first time Animal Crossing. I had no clue what to do and looking
back, I made lots of dumb things and decisions, lol. But I had fun after all. I wish you good luck
with this challenge!

Poppy is such a cutie. Tammi, though...yeah. Tammi looks like she's seen some things and has been scarred for life.

Good luck! I hope you get... whatever you're trying to get out of this :p By the way,
controversial opinion alert
I actually like Tammi. Sorry everyone (not sorry)

Hey, we all have our favorites! Unfortunately my 3DS died without saving so that town got deleted... i'm going to restart with a fresh, new thread to document the town, anyway.

To each their own! :3 I love Pietro, but a lot of people are creeped out by him.

Good luck on your challenge !! As others have said, you absoutely can get the fruit without trading. I hadn’t traded before joining the forums too and I had every fruit but one ! (and my villagers oddly never requested it either.)

Also, at least you are giving yourself access to the shops! When I was kid playing, I NEVER bought from the shops because I didn’t want to give them my money. Instead, I only got furniture from villagers gifting it or from balloons.....
I swear it worked though, somehow, it’s how I obtained most of the rococo and regal set LOL.
