Hey guys! I now have a more clear Have/Need list separate from my personal checklist.
Have/Need List

At this point I want to trade Merengue for Marshal only. Multiple cards negotiable.

Have/Want US cards. I am in the US. Opening up to Global trades now than I'm feeling more comfortable trading. I prefer to trade more than one card for international trades unless it's a card I really want.

I'm having trouble finding info on popular villager worth. Does anyone have any links to resources I can read up on to help me determine fair trades? I'm familiar enough with Animal Crossing to guess who might be popular, but I don't know their worth in terms of how many cards.

I usually check recently sold listings on ebay. I've found that there is a graphic floating around but it is flawed. If you check a few listings, you can usually get an average of what a card is worth.

@TechBonus That would be worth in money though. I'm trying to get a feel for worth in cards. I've seen it said a few times that SP cards can be traded for 2 regular cards. And one person said popular villagers might be worth 3-8 cards unless they are of similar value. Just wondering if there are any lists out there detailing those numbers.

I haven't seen any specific guide that shows each card's worth! I would agree with TechBonus that ebay is a good place to check, but there are still a lot of people who determine value of cards based upon how much they want them.

This may help you determine popularity.

I think the best way would be to look at these popularity charts and also decide how badly you want a card.

Sorry for all of the replies. I still think all of these lists have flaws. Lucky doesn't make tier 1 in any of them and in my experience, he is one of the most sought after cards of all time.

Yeah I'm not sure I'd agree with these lists either.. I think the best way to go about it is by figuring out what cards you want most and checking ebay :/

Thanks guys! If there's no guide out there, this is at least helping me form my own best judgement. Does that one person's statement about popular characters being worth 3-8 less popular character cards sound reasonable to you? If say 8 was Marshal and 3 was like a Tier 2?

I saw it here, if you're curious

I've never seen anyone trading 8 cards for just one card before honestly, the most I've done is 3. If you wanted 8 cards they'd have to be like the least popular cards :p

Also, keep in mind the new villagers like Raymond and Judy don't have amiibo cards.

I would be careful about looking at posts that are too old, I don't remember exactly when Nintendo stopped printing amiibo cards, but I would say that the rarities and values of cards have changed since they were still on the market!

I agree, I've never seen someone trade that many, unless they were really unpopular cards. Also, the info in the post you shared is 2 years old and with NH out now and the popularity, I think the market has changed. SP cards are pretty easy to come by and most people sell them for a pretty low price (think as low as $2 on ebay).

amiibo cards stopped being printed nearly 3 years ago and that post is 2 years old. Values have gone up dramatically since then. If you recall him mentioning the Kyara-Parfait Isabelle card for $100 and the K.K. card for $50, they've both tripled since then.

Boxes of amiibo cards used to be around $100, people are trying to sell them for $300, some even as high as $800.

Your other option would be to throw your popular cards up on ebay and sell and use the money to buy the cards you want.

Some people like trading and don't want to spend any money, some people will do whatever they can to get the cards they want. That's personal preference.

Haha, caught me! I tried to change Raymond to Marshal before anyone noticed once I realized he wouldn't have a card. :ROFLMAO:

I'm looking at some Ebay listings now and noticing a lot of them say "Never scanned". I never really got into using my amiibo cards, but I don't remember scanning them changing them in any way. Does it actually matter whether they've been scanned? I tried it once on one of them and I have no idea which one..

No, that doesn't matter. It's basically saying mint condition twice to drum up hype.
