NBA legend Kobe Bryant has passed. He died earlier this morning in a helicopter crash in California.

?According to The Los Angeles Times, Bryant, 41, was one of multiple fatalities after a helicopter crashed and burst into flames amid foggy conditions in the hills above Calabasas, Calif.? -The Dallas Morning News

Kobe Bryant was most notable for spending 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, being the 1997 Slam Dunk Champion, being a NBA All-Star in 17 consecutive selections, a 5 time NBA Champion in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2010, and being the #4 all-time scorer in points in NBA history with 33,643 points scored during his career.

I don?t know how interested people here are into sports or basketball, but it?s safe to say that he and the other victims of the helicopter crash will be severely missed. :(

I'm not a sports fan, but it's always a tragedy when someone so young (yes, 41 is too young) is taken before their time.

RIP. :(

reports from tmz say gianna his 13 year old daughter was also on board ): i hope its not true

I've just read that it is true, from several different sources.

This is utterly tragic for their family.
My heart and Prayers go out to them. :(

Damn. I wasnt much of a sports fan growing up, but I remember a time when the Lakers and Kobe were around in the 90s and early 2000s. RIP

Just found about this minutes ago and I'm just in shocked. Was catching up to some bnha s4 and when I xhanged it back to TV I found it weird why is the news still going on then I see on the headlines he has passed away. While I'm not a sports fan it's still shocking and I'm speechless as he's extremely known and living here in LA he's no stranger.

There's a memorial going on right now here in DTLA. I can't imagine how it is out there. May him and his daughter rest in peace. Condolences to the family.

I'm not a sports fan but it's always tragic to see deaths to people that were really talented.

Heard it a few hours ago on the radio, very heartbreaking. My prayers go to his family and loved ones.

I'm in mental shock right now. I can't believe this happened. I heard the news as soon as I turned on the T.V. I physically want to cry. 41 years old is fairly young. And his 13-year-old daughter... My gosh. Kobe and his daughters would always go to watch basketball together. Life should never be taken for granted. Who knows how much time we have left in this world? Rest easy, Kobe Bryant.

I couldn't believe when I heard the news. I'm not a sports fan at all, but I knew of him from others who were and I kept seeing his name pop up everywhere. It's sad to see someone so young and talented lose their life early and leave behind their wife and daughters. I can't imagine how much they must be suffering, especially Kobe's wife Vanessa who not only lost her husband, but also her daughter in that crash. I hope she and her daughters are able to recover from the loss.

He is so well know every time you launch a basketball u say Kobeee, He will be missed...Rip

I don't follow basketball but of course I'm familiar with Kobe. His death was such a surprise. I've seen all sorts of atheletes paying tribute to him today, like the football players at the Pro Bowl. It's always sad when anyone dies so young and I'm especially sorry to hear that his 13 year old daughter passed away as well.

can you imagine the nightmare his wife is currently going through? ugh...i cannot.

my parents and friends were very interested in basketball. on the day I learned about it, everyone was totally devastated. fly high, Kobe.

but guys.. please don't forget the other people who were in the crash as well. and please... don't make jokes.

When I was a kid, Kobe was everywhere. I remember asking my mom to buy me a jar of Nuttella because it had Kobe on it, lol. RIP to a legend, hate to hear it.

i've never been into basketball at all but man whenever i think about his daughter only being 13 and his wife losing both her husband and her child i lose it, like she must be so devastated i couldn't even imagine

I'm praying for the families of the people who died. Sadly, around 9 people died including Kobe and his duaghter. My heart goes out to the families of this horrible travesty :(

Fascinating how the majority of the responses I see here and on Twitter are "RIP Kobe" and not still talking about certain things.

It is sad for his daughter and the others who died.

Yeah, and his wife as well :( All so sad though.

Also you'd think people on duty would be more careful with aircraft considering last decades amount of things that happened but yeah...
