Today I had to TT all the way to Saturday, or maybe it's Sunday. I did this to get Tom to move out so I could sell him to someone. I was fine doing this, I just thought I would only have to TT ahead one day. We weren't trading, so now I have an open spot. But since I have TTed three days ahead, when I go back to the real date, won't someone new have moved in already? I don't really want to try to get someone out again, so should I just go back to the real date? Or should I stay three days ahead? Or does it not matter? Also, if anyone knows how long it takes for someone new to move in when you have a spot open, that'd be great.

If you have 9 villagers, a spontaneous movein is highly unlikely. If you have 8 ... it's likely. Better to go forward 1 day and check the forum or campground.

Traveling backward in time has never caused me to get a spontaneous movein if I have 9 villagers.

On the other hand, Lyman was a spontaneous movein when I went back 4 days after another villager was in boxes (taking me down to 8 villagers). I did not trade that villager and had no visitors. When I went back to the "right" day, Lyman's house space was already roped off.

No matter how many days you travel backwards, whether it is a year or a day, IT WILL COUNT ONLY AS ONE DAY. If you have 9 villagers you will not get anyone to move in, unless you asked someone from another town to move in, asked someone from the campsite to move in, or receive someone via street pass, someone may ping you about moving out but you still have to option to ask them to stay.

If you have eight villagers, it goes by some kind of percentage. The first 1-2 days it will be unlikely for someone to move in (the day after they are in boxes count as day one). 3-5 days it will be likely for someone to move in. 6-9 days very likely. 10th day is a guarantee move in. Personally, I've only made it nine days.

Good luck.
