I noticed on this version fish and bugs are worth significantly less. I fished for four hours straight and went through HUNDREDS of fish food bags and still barely put a dent in my wallet. Any tips on summoning tarantulas, sharks or higher priced fish.... I haven’t had luck on islands either. I caught one tarantula and only seen one since playing and I did everything right..... HELP

i've been going to nook islands. even when they are "generic" (with the same fruit and flowers as your island), i've been getting fish in rivers that are more expensive than the ones i'm catching at my island.
i kinda think every island has a little bit of a twist to it, even the generic ones. i went to one that was spawning a lot of stags (and it helps to clean the island a little bit, cut some trees, clean the weeds and it helps if you scare off the bugs that worth less and wait for the stags or idk atlas butterfly to spawn) and got a lot of money from it. it sometimes isn't obvious, so you have to test things out (see if there are any patterns when you're catching fish, etc) and pay attention.

I have never even came across a stag of any kind yet. I’ll keep trying.... even fishing in the rivers at every island I been to, carp, carp, and more carp. Sea bass, after sea bass, it’s depressing, I probably put 50 hours in this game already and haven’t achieved much as far as money making goes.

I’m in the Southern Hemisphere, so this may differentiation. I find that sharks are most active around 7-8am, then reappear frequently after 5pm. It’s definitely more of a process compared to New Leaf though. Instead of going up and down your beach, you can just enter a building and then come back out for a better chance of finding them.
You’ll likely run into some of the gold nuggets every now and then when you hit rocks with your axe or shovel. They’re good to sell when you can.

You can also plant money trees, instead of planting the 1k you dig up you plant 10k and you'll grow a 10k money tree! making 30k off it, if you dont know how that works heres a video

the main thing i’ve been doing is fishing and catching bugs - idk which hemisphere you’re in but if you’re in the northern hemisphere, there are some bugs and fish that sell for 1,000 bells or more each (man-faced stink bug, emperor/peacock/paper kite butterflies, football fish, oarfish, tuna, blue marlin, red snappers, barred knifejaw, etc).
So I make 100,000k minimum everyday, maybe takes me a few hours. On the days I play more I’ve made 200,000-300,000k a day.
I pick up everything!!!! Farm, farm, farm. I haven’t spent much time designing yet because I feel like I still don’t have enough furniture options.
I have been buying 3-5 nook miles tickets a day. I have peaches, oranges, apples, and coconuts growing on my island now. Foreign fruit sells for more. Also, I found a rare flower island and I took as many flowers as I could take back to my island and now more valuable bugs spawn frequently. I catch 3ish peacock butterflies every round I do.
