Need info about Japanese cartridge and console

I'm not sure whether I'm on the right thread to ask, but since everyone here supposedly has the Japanese cartridge, here goes.....
I'm planning on getting the limited edition 3DSXL console with AC:NL in Europe. My daughter is going to Japan next month and I am now thinking that I want her to buy me a Japanese cartridge as well.

My questions.....is it true that this cartridge has different holidays and items from the European version? Will it work ok on a European console? Should I think about getting the Japanese limited edition console instead? If I do, what affect, if any, will there be if I'm using the Japanese console in Europe? I assume that I can still get English on it?

The game will only work on a Japanese console
And you can't get English on the Japanese console, it's 100% Japanese.


TL;DR - no point getting it unless you have a basic understanding of Japanese.

All 3DS systems are region locked, meaning you will not be able to play the European cartridge on the Japanese console and vice versa. It is true that each region has a variety of holidays and items that are not included in other versions of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. (ie: JPN, KR, EU, NA)
*These can easily be experienced and obtained if you connect to a player's town in another region via
wi-fi. (There are a few members on TBT that have the JPN/KR version).

Unless you have a fair amount of knowledge in the Japanese language or currently learning it, I would advise you not to buy the Japanese version nor the 3DS system. In other words, it is not possible to change the language on the Japanese 3DS system to English.

Thanks for the answers, as disappointing as they are. Since I can't get English on it, that's the real killer for me, unfortunately. I really would have loved to get Japanese holidays, at least.
