Neighbors actually smart?

Well last saturday Scoot came to my house to buy something for the flea market he didnt buy anything. Today he was saying he was thinking of moving to Fieri (JOM's town). So of course I wrote a letter to Scoot because he is a good neighbor and JOM already has a Scoot who lives in his town but he doesnt recognize me. So I sent Scoot a letter with 100 bells. He then sends back a letter with a present, an exotic carpet. He says I knew you would like this. And incase you people don't know I am almost done with the Exotic Series one of the items I was missing was the rug. B)

Edit: My neighbor just gave me a president an EXOTIC Bureau-now this isnt another coincidince.

I don't think it was on purpose to give you the Exotic carpet....BUT the neighbors do give presents back if you send them a letter with a gift.

Well I think so because he was like I know you will like this. Because in an Interview they said they made the AI a helluva lot smarter.

I think this is a part of it too.

As I said when all the threads saying that neighbours have nothing to say when you talk to them were floating around: Neighbours learn as you progress the game.

If, for example, he moved to JOMs town then he would share letters, etc. with him that you did. And if you had caught every fish he would tell JOM that you are an expert fisher, and stuff like that. You just have to wait until neighbours learn more about you, the stuff in your house, the things you do and you have to wait until they move around a bit more. In a years time they'll have endless things to say.

it must be nice to have smart neighbors. every single time i talk to my neighbors, they want me to change their stupid catchphrase (whether i already did 10 min. ago or not). seriously. it's really annoying. i want to play hide'n'seek with em, for gosh sakes!

I know! My sister's the only one who's played hide and go seek with the neighbors. Kind of upsetting, considering I've played longer than she has...

But, yea, they do learn, at least I think they do...
