Hi everyone!

I started playing last Christmas, and am learning how to find friends! I am currently looking for fruit to start my own grove, but dont have much in trade other than apples and peaches.

I am not sure what to do once I exchange friend codes... how do we communicate on islands with each other?

Sorry to be so new, but I could use some help from a friendly person!

Hi there, and welcome to the forums! I no longer play New Horizons, but I’m sure you’ll find some friendly faces to help you out. The community here is very friendly.

You can visit with each other via the airport. You can talk to the Dodo, and he will open your gate or allow you to visit your friends on other islands. I hope this helps!

I would be happy to bring fruit if we are both on/available at the same time! I should be around for the next couple of hours, otherwise there is often someone online who is willing to bring fruit!

One good thing is that you don’t need to exchange friend codes to visit/have people come to your island! You can open your gate at the airport by choosing to use a “Dodo Code”. As for chatting in-game, all you have to do is press the “R” button, and it will bring up a keyboard! You can either use the joystick to navigate the keyboard, or tap directly on the screen.

If you have a phone in real life, or plan to chat a lot, some people find it helpful to download the Nintendo app on their phone, because it has a New Horizons phone app included in it, which can be used for faster typing. That’s another thing entirely though!
