New to AC

Hello! I am new to the animal crossing community as I was gifted a switch and the game for Christmas. I’m loving it so far but I have no friends to visit their islands and I’m also having trouble gathering iron nuggets to build the shop. If anyone has any suggestions I’d be so grateful!

For the iron nuggets, I'm not sure if you knew (I didn't when I first started), but when you hit the rocks with a stone axe, if you continue to hit it in quick succession, you can usually get about seven pieces of material from it. I would also recommend not breaking the rocks completely, as they take days to respawn. If you don't break them, you'll be able to mine them everyday.

Mystery island tours also generally have rocks on them too.

When I first started, I found the game quite slow to progress because I didn't know these types of things! That being said, if you have Nintendo Switch Online, I'd be happy to bring you iron nuggets!

In the top left corner of the home page, there'll be an icon with your profile picture labeled "[Name]'s Page." When you click on it you'll have the option to add friends by searching with friend codes!

I don't remember exactly how visiting friends' islands works since I don't have Nintendo Online anymore, but if you go to the airport you can ask the guy at the counter to explain it. Basically, just connect to wifi, and anyone in your friend list can help you if they're playing. I think you can visit someone who's nearby in real life without Nintendo Online but don't quote me on that because I've never tried it.

If you don't have Nintendo Online and there's no one in real life who can help you with your island, try not to sweat it too much ^^ Sometimes games are more fun when you progress slowly and appreciate the early game's ambiance.
