New villager moved in today but their house says they moved out?!

I'll try to keep this short but I just want to explain the sequence of events. My friend had Megan, who was moving out. I went to her town & got Megan to agree to move in.

However, when I got back to my town, the plot was reserved for Skye, not Megan. Today, I loaded up my town and Isabelle made an announcement about a new villager. I went to the plot and Skye's house was there, but when I try to open the door I get the message "I've moved out".

My friend told me that earlier she had kicked skye out using an amiibo card so I'm assuming it has something to do with that. I'm a little bummed, I was looking forward to getting skye and now I have to wait until I cycle out a lot of other villagers if I ever want to get skye. oh well :/

has this happened to anyone else? I know there's another glitch with amiibos currently but I haven't been able to find anything about this specific glitch.

Am I stuck with an empty house now? or is this what normally happens when a villager moves out

Its probably a glitch that has been well known to affect many people using amiibo

Since there's been so little information about this glitch in particular I'm going to try to keep this thread updated as I try to solve it.

Called nintendo, they let me file a bug report but I'm pessimistic there will be a fix any time soon if at all.

I ordered some amiibo cards online and I'm going to try kicking skye with them to see if that's a solution!! Hopefully I didn't waste my money. If anyone else has encountered this glitch I suggest trying to file a bug report. It takes a while but the more people that do it the more likely it is to be fixed!!!.........hopefully

I’ve seen talk of a workaround somewhere it’s a fairly substantial glitch as I think you need 10 villagers to unlock something and with a bugged house you won’t be able to have 10.

I think the game thinks skye is a villager though. The still show up on my map and skye is there when I hold ceremonies & attended my first kk concert. Wysp isn't the only ghost in my town I guess
