New Years Pen Pals

Hey guys,

So I had this random idea and figured I would throw it out there and see what everyone thought of it.

Idea: At the beginning of the year, receive a random pen pal, write and exchange a "letter" on bell tree to your pen pals once a week for the duration of a month. Pen-pals can be switched with each month or those who sign up, and of course, you can still talk to your old pen pal if you want. For fun, consider exchanging dodo codes and meeting up on one of your islands at the end of the month.

Premise:
The premise of this idea is just to have the opportunity to get to know other people that play animal crossing, and maybe find a few new friends along the way. The notes can just be well wishes, or how are you's, or just sharing some island news, or anything in between, whatever you personally feel comfortable with. As a bonus, you can have someone visit your island and visit theirs instead. It is just a rough idea, so I would take any suggestions along the way. If there is a general positive amount of interest, I will set up an airport thread.

So what do you guys think? I guess this stems from me being the only real gamer in my household, and the only one to play animal crossing. IT would be fun to connect with and begin to know others.

I’m not so sure about this. I’m not exactly comfortable with sharing my friend code and I’d be concerned that I’d accidentally forget. I might consider this if it was on Belltree and not in game, like having one single pm titled Pen Pal and the “postcards” could be written there. This would also avoid the word limit on in game messages and wouldn’t require a Nintendo online subscription.

We could do it that way too. It was more of a first thing that popped into mind. Which is why I said I was open for feedback

I like this idea, though I'm worried that I would forget or end up not having to write each week. Sounds good in theory, but I'm not sure if I would be able to commit to a letter a week for a year.

this is honestly a really cool idea and i’ve actually participated in stuff like this before; however, i have a tendency to go on hiatus sometimes and so i’m not sure if i’d be able to commit to writing a letter every week for the entire year and i wouldn’t want to just ghost my penpal but other than that, this is a nice idea.

I think it sounds cute. Just you don't have to send any friend code or information that you don't want to. So it's just friendly stranger mail. Of course I like the idea, but I can see people just being trolls and creepy stalkers.

So currently, we have thought of some amendments then,

1. That it would be done through the bell tree forum
2. That would be for a month, with a "letter" once a week to your pen pal. After that, those signed back up could get a new pen pal the following month.
